Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVALERAE ELAINE NOVOTNY (nee SEALS) August 22, 1957 March 10, 2013 It is with much sorrow that her family announces the sudden passing of Valerae Elaine Novotny in her 55th year. Valerae is survived by her son Steven Froom and his fiancée Katie Lee, her mother Agnes Seals, her brothers John Seals and Tom Seals, and her sister Eva Seals. She was predeceased by her father, Mervin Seals, in 1986. Val's working career began at the age of 17, working first in the jewelry industry for a number of years. After trying a number of different jobs, she settled in at Jostens working in the yearbook division. Eventually, mental health issues required her to leave work and go on disability. Even then, Valerae volunteered regularly at the Salvation Army multicultural centre on Morrow Avenue, having been a part of its creation. She enjoyed helping with special events and conducting bible studies for refugee families, welcoming them into her home. Valerae's faith in God was very important to her. We rejoice that she is in the arms of Jesus and know that she is at peace. We are grateful to the many mental health care professionals who have supported Valerae over the years, particularly those at the McEwen Building at St. Boniface Hospital. Many thanks also to those at the Keystone Apartment for providing friendship to Valerae. The funeral service for Valerae will be held March 18, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue. If friends so desire, the family welcomes contributions to the Canadian Mental Health Association. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website.
