JOE WYSPINSKI Joe passed away on Friday, March 15, 2013 at the Selkirk General Hospital. He leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Elsie; son Richard (his children, Royce and Rishel); son Laurie; daughter Judy; and son Joel (wife Tracy and daughter Kelsy). Joe was born in Sudbury, Ontario on October 27, 1929. Soon after, he, his mother and sister Jean moved to the farming area West of Gimli, MB. He attended Lilac School from grade 1-8; then Gimli Public School for grade 9-11. He then went to United College (U of W) to study towards his B.Sc degree. He was a conscientious public servant. He did not take time off unnecessarily or abuse the privileges of the job. In 1991, on the recommendation of his colleagues, his manager and the Director of Operations, Joe received a Merit Award of $1,500.00 from Mr. Orville Buffie, Director General, Manitoba Region of Employment and Immigration Canada in recognition of the high level of his performance since 1951. This was accompanied by a "Merit Award Medal" and a Silver "Merit Award" pin. Joe retired in 1995. In 2000, he was diagnosed with Dementia of the Alzheimer's type and entered a personal care home in 2010. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 21 at 2:00 p.m. in the Knox Presbyterian Church, McLean Ave and Eveline St., Selkirk.
