SLAVKA (SYLVIA) BOUCHARD (nee MUZAR) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Sylvia Bouchard, a remarkable woman who lived her life to the fullest-a blessing and inspiration to all those she met. Sylvia passed away peacefully in the early hours of March 15, 2013 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Sylvia will be lovingly remembered by her sisters Martina, Angela, her brother Franc; her children Steve (Adelia), Judy (Trevor), Noel (Adrienne), Joe; her grandchildren Kevin, Richard, Stephanie, Alex and Jake. She was predeceased by her husband Claude; her parents Maria and Jure; her sister Reska; her brothers Stanko and Lojz. Sylvia was born in Slovenia on October 20, 1934. She came to Canada at the age of 25 for adventure and opportunity. She worked at the Health Sciences Centre where she met her husband Claude. Both shared an entrepreneurial spirit and opened a moving company in Winnipeg and a motel and cabin rental business in Grand Marais, Manitoba. Mom loved spending her summers at Grand Marais; she loved to travel, exercise and dance. She deeply enjoyed the company of all her dear friends. Her positive outlook and generous spirit will never be forgotten. Special thanks to all the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit for their loving kindness. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, March 20 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 21 at 9:30 a.m. also at the Chapel. Entombment will be at Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum 3990 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sylvia's memory to the Manitoba Lung Association. We lived across the lane from Sylvia for many years. She was a wonderful kind and caring person. She enjoyed the odd glass of wine and a good laugh. She had a wonderful infectious laugh. We will also miss her visits. She was a good friend and neighbour. Grand Marais wont be the same without her. - Posted by: Rick and Eleanor (Friends) on: Mar 19, 2013

It was amazing to live the Summers so close to Sylvia she would always come by the cabin and bring candy for my Children. Sylvia made all of us feel special but we were the ones that were really blessed to know such a wonderful person. Grand Marais will be a little more empty this year but we will toast and remenber everyone's friend Sylvia! - Posted by: Rick # 2 (Friend from the Lake) on: Mar 19, 2013

Your dear Mom made such an impact on our family going back to the sixties when our parents met her and your Father through some rental property they both owned. Your Mother had a work ethic of her own that no one else could ever duplicate. Our parents had such respect for your Mother throughout all the years of their friendship. She was kind and generous to us all. She had an infectious laughter that no one could forget. Grand Marais will never be the same without her. This summer we should all gather there and celebrate Sylvia's life with good food (pizza), drink (beer and soft drinks) and lots of dancing music! - Posted by: Helen Gurinow and Lilly Burky (Friends ) on: Mar 18, 2013
