FRANCISCO MELO 1922 - 2013 Peacefully on March 15, 2013 at Seven Oaks Hospital, Francisco Melo passed away, after an amazing 91 years. Predeceased by his wife Filomena in February, 2012. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his loving children: Maria (Domingos), Laura (Antonio), Francisco (Maria), David (Grace), Aida (Paulo); 11 grandchildren, Helia, David, Marco, Denis, Anita, Amanda, Steven, Melissa, Ashley, Jessica and Sabrina and five great-grandchildren, Lucas, Brandon, Jack, Sandro and Cristiano. He will be greatly missed by several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends here and in Portugal. He was predeceased by his parents Jose and Umbelina, as well as his brothers; Antonio, Jose, Manuel, Joao, Joaquin, and his sister Maria. Francisco was born on January 18, 1922 in Santa Maria, Azores where he met his dear wife Filomena. He immigrated to Canada in 1969 along with their five children. He worked very hard and was very proud of his achievements. Despite all challenges and hardship that he faced Francisco never complained. He enjoyed the simple things in life, walking, gardening and loved watching his sports, but above all he took much pleasure in enjoying his meals and spending time with his family. The family would like to thank the staff at Middlechurch Home Station A-1; Seven Oaks Hospital Staff of the 4th floor Unit-7 and Dr. Glazner for the love and care. The friendship and compassion was outstanding and appreciated, thank you. Prayers will be said on Thursday, March 21 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 22 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. N. Entombment to follow at Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, Assumption Cemetery. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to charity of one's choice. Father Who worked so hard and saved so long For what we have today; And anytime would sacrifice, His chance to rest or play. Who always saw his children have, The things he did without; And gave so much, unselfishly For that's what love's about. Who sought no honours, no rewards, For all that he had done; Except to raise a family, The very finest one, Though we cannot evaluate Our Dad, his love, his worth. To us he'll always be "Just Dad: the greatest guy on earth." CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-586-8044
