LORETTA JANE WIRTH (nee CRAIG) Loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away suddenly in the comfort of her home on Saturday, March 16, 2013 with her husband Edward by her side. Forever to cherish Loretta's memory are her husband Ed; son Kevin (Bonnie), daughter Lori Cote (Robert), and grandchildren Janessa, Jarrett, Darrian, Janelle and Shaylene. She will also be sadly missed by her sister Barbara, brother Brian and numerous in-laws, nephews, nieces and friends. Loretta was predeceased by her parents Jack and Beatrice, stepfather Frank, and sisters Sharon, Marion and Donna. Loretta was born on April 19, 1942 in Broadview, Saskatchewan where she went to school and made many friends before moving to Neudorf, Saskatchewan at age 17. Shortly after moving to Neudorf she met a young farmer named Ed who would turn out to be the love of her life. Loretta moved with her sisters to take a job as a bank teller in Regina and Ed followed shortly thereafter. In 1965 Loretta and Ed got married and lived in Regina for three more years before moving to Winnipeg, Manitoba. After moving to Winnipeg Loretta stayed at home to raise Kevin and Lori before taking a job with Livingston Distribution where she worked for many years before deciding it was time to "stop working for the man" and enjoy life as a retiree. Livingston was the starting point of many lifelong friendships with those whom Mom lovingly referred to as "the Stonewall Crew". Mom relished every moment she visited with family and friends from both near and far and she would always look for opportunities to get everyone together. One of her favourite things was to host an annual dinner party which featured a meal and theme from a different country each year. Another passion of Mom's was curling. She played in a weekly women's league which was highlighted by a rare 7-ender that she bragged about for many years. Once she was no longer playing she watched all the games on t.v. and would sometimes travel with Dad and their friends to go see the World Curling Championships in person. Throughout her life Mom had a few different hobbies like collecting bells and angel figurines and most recently took up Swedish weaving. She made beautiful blankets for family and friends that will be cherished for many years. Mom, we love you and miss you terribly but are comforted in knowing that you have joined loved ones in God's Kingdom where you will all look over us until the day comes for us to meet again. The family would like to thank the amazing staff on 4AS at St. Boniface Hospital who took such wonderful care of Mom in recent weeks, as well as family and friends who have reached out to share stories of Mom throught the years. A celebration of Loretta's life will take place on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2528 King Edward Street, Winnipeg, MB.
