JEAN MARGARET MYLREA (nee McEachern) It is with great sadness that the family announce the peaceful passing at her home, of Jean Margaret Mylrea on March 17, 2013 from Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Jean was born in Winnipeg, the eldest daughter of the late Dr. John M. McEachern and Jean Margaret McEachern. She is survived by her beloved husband and best friend of more than 40 years, Jim. Jean leaves seven children and 15 grandchildren from their combined families Lauraine Turner, Jim Searle (Chris Tyrell), Christine Moore (Craig), Michael Searle (Maria), Kathryn Mylrea Charnley, Cindy Mylrea (Brian Whitney), and Jim Mylrea (Pam), and her sister Beth Hiscox. Jean and Jim lived in Bermuda for 25 years, where she made many lifelong friendships. Best memories of those times include numerous travel adventures with close buddies, large family gatherings and visits from friends. Bermuda was also her introduction to golf, which she immediately loved dearly and became a champion at the beautiful Mid-Ocean Club. One of her special memories was being asked to be the non-playing Captain for the Bermuda Ladies World Amateur team, playing in Venezuela and Sweden. She was a long time member of the Rosedale Golf Club in Toronto and the Loxahatachee Golf Club in Florida. Jean loved her children and grandchildren. Big family gatherings with everyone at The Briars, where the "Family Olympics" brought hours of fun, and Christmas camping on the Serengeti with all the children were very special memories. A graduate of the University of Toronto, Jean was a woman of great grace, strength and culture whose support could always be counted on. She instilled a love of art in her children, and had a great passion for photography. Her positive outlook and sense of humor never swayed despite the challenges lymphoma brought to her, and the sound of her laughter will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank all the staff at Princess Margaret Hospital, with a special thanks to Dr. Richard Tsang for his years of care and compassion and Dr. Jennifer Shapiro of the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care. A service celebrating her life will be held at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery Visitation Centre, 375 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto (east gate entrance, north of St. Clair Ave., 416-485-5572) on Monday March 25 at 1:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Princess Margaret Foundation for Leukemia & Lymphoma Research would be welcomed.
