PATRICIA AUDREY TAIT
Date of Passing: Mar 16, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPATRICIA AUDREY TAIT (née ROBERTSON) Passed away peacefully at Victoria General Hospital, in the early morning of March 16, 2013 in her 89th year. Her loving husband Hugh was by her side at the end, as he had been for almost 67 years. Beloved mother of Rob (Cathy) and David (Kathleen). Caring grandmother of Amanda (Ben Morris), Michael (Alyson), Colin (Vanessa Grandmaison) and Emily (Derek Carrière); and great-grandmother of Mason, Alexa, Riley, Summer, and Braeden. Survived also by her brother Bill Robertson (Irene), brother-in-law Robert Tait (Gudrun), sister-in-law Kay Ames, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pat met Hugh when she was just 15 years old. When war broke out, she waited five years for his return. Hugh still carries a photo of her from those early years in his wallet. Pat devoted her life to her husband, children and grandchildren, but always enjoyed time with their friends in Winnipeg, and new friends made in Florida after retirement. Lifelong, best friends, Agnes and Hugh Comack shared many experiences with Pat and Hugh. Numerous intertwined family stories are still retold and usually end in laughter. Pat loved being "Auntie Pat" to all of her nieces and nephews in the Tait/Robertson clan. She was very proud of both her and Hugh's Scottish heritage. Pat deeply cherished the friendships she had with her and Hugh's siblings and their spouses. In the latter part of her life, her happiest moments were spent at Dave and Kathy's cottage, with the Star Lake family and friends. She loved being a part of the extended Law family and was "Grandma Tait" to the younger Law generation. Her last home was at the Seine River Retirement Residence, where she said she felt like she was on a luxury cruise. Pat's pride and joy were her sons, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Her face beamed when speaking of her family and she loved to watch all of the new lives that had started to fill the house again. To honour her mother's memory, she was called "Mamie" by her great-grandchildren. Pat had a very good sense of humour, except if anybody dared to insult the Royal Family, which her sons loved to do. She would respond often with "It's just as easy to be nice" and her life exemplified that motto. As Pat's family, we would like to thank the doctors, nurses and health care aides of Five North at Victoria General Hospital, who gave Pat tremendous care in her final days and who made Pat and the family so comfortable on the last night of her life. Plus we so appreciate all of the family and friends that enriched Pat's life and who supported us during this difficult time. We would also like to thank the staff and the Home Care workers at Seine River for enhancing her last few years. An announcement regarding a celebration of Pat's life will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Victoria General Hospital, 5 North Ward Fund, 2340 Pembina Highway, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 9Z9. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 www.nbardal.mb.ca

My "Aunty Pat" was always very good to me when I was growing up. She and "Uncle Hughie" shared a very special relationship with my Mom and Dad and both of our families benefited from the example they set for us in having close friends. I will always cherrish my memories of Boxing Day dinners, tomato soup lunches on Roberta, hanging with Rob and David when we were young, Winnipeg Beach, eating liverworst sandwiches and catching Carp at Lockport to name a few. My sincerest condolences to Uncle Hughie, Rob, David and your families. - Posted by: Don Comack (Family Friend) on: Mar 23, 2013
