GLENN GORDON Peacefully on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at the age of 85, Glenn passed away at the Seven Oaks Hospital in Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his parents, his first wife Eileen, and his siblings Vera, Thelma and Cyril. Glenn was born on April 10, 1927 in Oxbow, Saskatchewan. He married Eileen Thomson on October 17, 1953. While in Saskatchewan they were blessed with their two sons Brian and Kevin. The family resided in Carievale, Saskatchewan until 1968 when the family moved to Winnipeg. After the passing of Eileen, Glenn married Helen Pretchuk (nee Hanischuk). The two met through Helen's brother Bill. Helen and Glenn attended various church and social functions. They were married on February 13, 1982. Glenn enjoyed camping, fishing, and travelling the country in their motor home. He was a generous man and often invited friends and relatives to accompany them on their adventures. Glenn loved playing cards and marbles with friends and relatives he spent countless hours losing to Helen and her teammates! Over his lifetime Glenn held numerous jobs before settling into the position of school custodian for the St. James Assiniboia School Division. He loved being in the company of students and touched the heart of many a child with his friendly words and sympathetic ear. After his retirement Glenn loved nothing more than spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He often had a finger to pull, a joke to be heard, or a friendly ear to listen to songs and stories. Glenn will be greatly missed by his wife of 31 years, Helen, his sons Brian (Anne), and Kevin (Debbie), his stepsons Jim (Cathy), Mark (Marie), and Grant (Mary). Pop(s) / Grandpa will be missed by his six great-grandchildren and by his grandchildren Kaleigh-Anne (Chad), Kurtis (Alicia), Jake, Kyle, James (Annika), Jessica, Jordan, and Chloe. Glenn was my forever friend whom I met while I was secretary at Bedson School and he was the custodian. Our friendship was instantaneous. We had coffee breaks at the same time and both loved to indulge in donuts with our coffee. Glenn was always happy, ready with a joke and a laugh. He was a caring, and hard working man, who loved his family and was a true friend to all. I came from Vancouver to visit Glenn at his home in Winnipeg on February 20 and 21st of this year, when I heard how ill he was and will forever cherish those hours spent with him, reminiscing about the good old days, and sharing memories. He had so much courage and was a fighter to the very end. Glenn, your friendship was a treasure. A once in a lifetime friend. My heart goes out to Helen his wonderful wife and his family. You will be missed every single day, Glenn, but one day I know I will see you again. You were the most kind and special friend I have ever had. I miss you so very much. - Posted by: Marilee Fisher (his forever friend) on: Apr 08, 2013
