BERTINA ESTHER MARY NAHORNY (LITTLE) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bertina (Bea) Nahorny on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the age of 82. Left to cherish her memory are her son Daryl, grandson Steven; and son Tim (Sue), grandchildren Holly and Tristan; sisters-in-law Gertie and Helen; and many special relatives and friends. Bea was predeceased by her husband Steve, son Anton, and brother Louis. Mom was born September 11, 1930 in Winnipeg. She met dad roller skating at the Winnipeg Roller Rink as a teenager with a love that lasted throughout their lives. She worked as a custodial aide in the River East School Division for many years to help support family activities and vacations throughout North America; collecting rocks and visiting relatives. While her health was good she enjoyed the women's bowling league, swimming lessons and taking care of her pets and plants. She was very spiritual and compassionate with qualities that kept her many friendships alive. Bea was fortunate to reignite contact with her cousins Gloria, Raymond and John whose caring and kindness was cherished. The family thanks the ICU and 3rd floor staff at Concordia Hospital for their efforts. Although you were unable to see your goal to live to 100, your memories will live on. A private family ceremony has been held at Transcona Cemetery with Pastor Bruce Gelhorn presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of ones choice. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel. KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME 1897 Henderson Hwy. 338-0331 Condolences may be sent to www.klassenfuneralhome.com

  • I hadn't seen Bertina for over 50 years and when I saw her again after all that time, it was as if that time had never passed. The good feelings that I had when she and Steve would visit when I was a boy came flooding back and I was just as happy and excited to see her as before. I only wish that I hadn't let so much time pass before getting in touch with her again. . .the daily challenges of Life can all too often get in the way of doing the things that you shouldn't ignore. She and Steve were special people. I'm really happy that I was able to spend some time with her again. - Posted by: John Benoit (Cousin) on: Dec 18, 2013
