MARCELLA (EILEEN) LESEACH (WILLIAMS)
Born: Apr 08, 1916
Date of Passing: Dec 21, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARCELLA (EILEEN) LESEACH (nee WILLIAMS) Born in Winnipeg, April 8, 1916, Eileen passed away peacefully December 21, 2012 at Misericordia Place. Eileen was the eldest daughter and second child of an Irish mother and English father who immigrated to Canada in the early 1900s. She spent the first years of her life in Winnipeg's North End, initially on Burrows Avenue and then Cathedral Avenue. She attended Immaculate Conception School, St. John's High School and later St. Mary's Academy, and in 1937 graduated from the Misericordia Hospital with her R.N. In 1939, she married Pierre (Peter) LeSeach. In 1948 they moved to North Kildonan where they raised their three children and for a few years operated a mink ranch. Although the 1948 and 1950 Red River Flood irreparably damaged the ranch, they turned their attention to a large garden that provided the family with enough vegetables, strawberries and raspberries to last most of the year after freezing what was not eaten fresh. Eileen's nursing career lasted until she was 65, the majority of it working as an industrial nurse for CN Railways in both the Fort Rouge and Transcona Shops. Though retired from her occupation, she never really gave up nursing and loved to provide neighbours and friends with any assistance needed when they were ill. She once saved a neighbour's son from drowning in Bunn's Creek. She continued this love for service as a member of Mary Mother of the Church in Fort Garry, happily baked and volunteered for various committees and fundraisers over the years. Eileen loved politics, current events, football and entertaining. She adored rituals and parades, Eaton's Department store and spring cleaning. She'd rather be one hour early than one minute late. A hard worker her whole life, she was slender and energetic. She was an avid reader until her 90s when age related macular degeneration stole her favourite pastime. Feisty and full of opinions, her sense of humour was ageless and amused everyone from her grandchildren to her contemporaries. Eileen was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Pierre in 1985 and both her siblings Edwin and Molly (Rosemary). She will be sorely missed by her children, Yvonne (Bob) Baert, Pierre (Darlene) LeSeach and Marie (Randy) Price as well as her grandchildren Michelle, Raquel, Danielle, Curtis, Pierre, Danielle, Brett and Blake. She also leaves eight great-grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held at Misericordia Place, 44 Furby Street in the chapel on the main floor on Saturday, April 6 at 10:00 a.m. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements, 204-775-2220

Eileen was a dear friend to my mother (Berta Wessler)for many years when they both lived on Pembina Highway. I have many fond memories of Eileen. She was generous, kind and gracious to all. She and Yvonne often invited Mum to accompany them on their Saturday outings over the years - always a special treat for my mother. It was a privilege to know Eileen and I extend my deepest sympathies to Yvonne and all the members of Eileen's family. - Posted by: Lynn Zacharias (Daughter of Eileen's friend, Berta Wessler) on: Jul 29, 2013

It was my pleasure to have been in this lady's acquaintance for many years, although the opportunity to be with her was limited because of distance. But when in her company, seldom as it was, I was ever reminded that Mrs. LeSeach epitomized for me what it was to be a true lady. We had wonderful chats about every imaginable subject, with no hesitation on her part to express her thoughtful opinions. It was a pleasure to know her and now to remember her. May God bless and keep her close by. - Posted by: Patricia Hanna-Snyder (Friend) on: Apr 04, 2013

Parable of Immortality: I am standing by the seashore. A ship at m side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength and I watch her until at last she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come down to mingle with each other. Then someone says "There she goes" Gone where? Gone from my sight, that is all. She is just as large in mast hull and spar as she was when she left my side, and just as able to bear her load of living freight to the place of destination. Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone shouts "There she goes" There are other eyes watching her "Here she comes", - Posted by: Mimi le Seach Hayes (neice in law) on: Apr 04, 2013

We're so sorry to hear of Aunt Eileen's passing. It brings up good memories of how our lives intersected with hers. Your family would remember being evacuated to Dauphin during the Winnipeg flood, and staying with our family. Her spirit and generosity were always apparent. Our thoughts are with her always. - Posted by: Gerry and Doreen Beech (Nephew and niece) on: Apr 02, 2013

I first met Mrs. LeSeach (Eileen) in or around 1994, when she would pop around our offices on Notre Dame with her friend Gladdy (and others) to meet up with Yvonne for lunch. It was immediately evident how warm and friendly she was and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know this lovely lady over the years. She was a real dynamo, full of energy and good cheer! She was always so kind and thoughtful and I always got a chuckle out of her calling me Cynthy:) That was so endearing. I sincerely enjoyed being included in many of Yvonne's field trips with her dear mom, everything from spending an afternoon at the art gallery at the Assiniboine Park or a fun dash to The Bay's Paddle Wheel Restaurant. I have many great memories of Eileen, including attending her 90th birthday party filled with all the people who loved her or having tea at her place with Yvonne. Eileen was always impeccably dressed and exuded elegance. She was truly a lovely lady, both inside and out and I feel fortunate to have had the chance to get to know her. I know she was so proud of Yvonne and all of her accomplishments, as she often whispered this to me. I will miss this wonderful lady's presence on this earth and my heart goes out to Yvonne, Bob, Michelle, Raquel and Danielle as I know how much she was loved and dearly treasured by all of them. My deepest condolences go out to all of Eileen's family. I will always remember Eileen with great fondness:) - Posted by: Cynthia Wharton (Co-worker of Mrs. LeSeach's daughter Yvonne for many years.) on: Mar 31, 2013

Yvonne and I were in the same grade at St. Alphones school..(oh well, Yvonne maybe I was one grade ahead of you)(therefore, one year older). But isn't it wonderful that our two families re-connected. I do truly think things are "meant to be" and this was of them. My prayers are with you and your family. - Posted by: Linda Lev (Grade school withYvonne; sister-in-law to Marie (my brother is Randy Price.) on: Mar 30, 2013
