F. LORRAINE GRAVES (SHEWFELT) 1928 - 2013 Fern Lorraine Graves, daughter of E. Fletcher and Gertrude Shewfelt, passed away March 29, 2013, at the Grace Hospital, Winnipeg. Lorraine was admitted to the Grace Hospital on February 20 suffering from a stroke and had made steady progress to recovery until her unexpected death on March 29. She is survived by her husband Thomas, daughters Colleen (Patrick Binns), Tara (David Carson), granddaughters Lisa and Carolyn Binns, sister Shirley Tuck and nieces Marisa Olson and Maya Raab. Lorraine was born in La Riviere, MB, and lived in Whitemouth and Lac du Bonnet. She finished schooling at St. Mary's Academy in Winnipeg. She graduated as an RN from St. Boniface Hospital School of Nursing in 1950. She accepted nursing experiences in Vancouver, BC; Kenora, ON; Montreal, QC; and St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg. After marriage in 1962, she accompanied her husband as his career took them to Saskatoon, SK; Moncton, NB; and then back to Winnipeg, MB. She returned to nursing part-time at Heritage Lodge Nursing Home until her retirement. Lorraine made many friends including life-long nursing friends. Lorraine enjoyed ITC, curling, book clubs, pattern dancing, quilting, bridge, travel and relaxing at the cottage. She was a wonderful mother to her children, grandmother to Lisa and Carolyn and a good friend to many. She will be greatly missed. We thank the Doctors, nursing and support staff at Grace Hospital (3 South) for their kind support for Lorraine. Also we greatly appreciated the very enthusiastic, positive support of the physiotherapy and occupational therapy group helping Lorraine recover from her stroke. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Lorraine's life will be held on Saturday, April 6 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Winnipeg, MB. Remembrances will commence at 3:00 p.m. sharp.
