GERARD PRAIRIE It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Gerard Prairie at the age of 94 on Monday, April 1, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his family. Gerard was born in Ste. Anne on July 9, 1918. He is survived by his children: Thérèse Laurencelle (Fabien late), Sam (Dolores), Marcel (Denise), Raymond (Lucille), Lucille Fiola (François), Rhéa (Glen), Gilbert (Evelyn), Lina Perrin (Reynald), René, Marielle Morin (Ron), Liliane (Donald) and Gérald (Sandy). He is also survived by his sister-in-law Fernande Siemens and brothers-in-law Odilas (Sirkka), Roland (Anna) and Raymond Lavigne, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 72 years, Hermance and his daughter Rolande. His parents Simeon and Maria (Lanctot) Prairie, brothers Noé, Joseph (Marguerite), Zephirin, Louis, Antoine (Marie Ange) and Edouard, his sisters Eugenie, Gratia (Raoul) Desrosiers, Agathe, Marie-Anne, Jeanne, Simone (Leopold) Remillard, Marguerite and Emilia (Heldege) Dusablon. His brothers-in-law Antonin, Normand and his wife Alma, Léo and his wife Rita, Eloi and his wife Dorothé, his sisters-in-law Léonie Schwartz and husband Hector, Yvonne Pelland and husband Joe, Gertrude Lavigne, Lorette Ryback and husband Nick and brother-in-law Frank Siemens. Dad and Mom spent their entire life in Ste. Anne. After their marriage , they lived 60 years on the farm and devoted their life to their 13 children. After their retirement, they travelled to Europe, Australia, Hawaii and Cuba to name a few. In 2002, they moved to Villa Youville in Ste. Anne. Special thanks are extended to the home care staff of the Villa Youville, to Soeur Rioux and Soeur Forest for their devotion and loving care of dad. Thanks also to Dr. Fredette, Dr. Bissonnette and the members of the Ste. Anne hospital staff who provided Dad with compassionate professional care. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday April 13, 2013, at the Ste. Anne Roman Catholic Church with Father Becho Camille Doh officiating. There will be prayers and a PowerPoint presentation 30 minutes prior to the service. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements, 204-775-2220.

  • I was very young when I would see this side of the family. I very much remember my uncle and aunt. My memories are greats ones out at st. Anne's . I loved the family reunions and times together. An amazing and wonderful man , always smiled and gave me a hug everytime we saw each other. I will miss you and my love to all my cousins. Sorry for your loss.
