JACK WILLIAM BALL With his family by his side, Jack Ball passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the age of 61. He was predeceased by his parents Donald and Frances Ball; brothers Neil and Lance; sisters Susan and Donna. Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Peggy (LaPorte); sons Rick (René), Randy (Trenna); daughter Valerie (Bryce); grandchildren Jade, Ashton, Colton, Cash; sisters Janet (Shane), Pat (Garry); brother Danny; and his spoiled little dog Ming. Jack was born on July 9, 1951 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He grew up in the Weston/Brooklands area of the city and lived his entire adult life in Brooklands. Jack worked in the Flooring Industry his entire career. His specialty was in sales and management. He had a strong work ethic and was well respected by his customers and colleagues. Some of his greatest pleasures included travel, fishing, golfing, playing cards, watching old western movies, and visiting his children and grandchildren in Alberta and British Columbia. Jack also took great pride in gardening and every summer many family members, friends and neighbours enjoyed the fresh vegetables that he shared with them from his garden. Jack also loved running his seasonal business of peddling topsoil and gravel, his abilities were natural when it came to sales and customer service. W. Bro. Jack Ball was a member of Millennium Lodge No. 182. The family would like to express their gratitude and respect to the health care professionals at CancerCare Manitoba and the St. Boniface Palliative Care Department. And, Jack's children would especially like to thank their Aunty Janet for the overwhelming love and support she provided to both of their parents over the past six months. A Celebration of Jack's life will take place on Thursday, April 11 at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery) at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation, C1026-409 Taché Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6. Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • I just found out this tragic loss today, May 2, and I am shocked and saddened. I had worked with Jack (he was my boss) in the 1980's, at Buckwold Western, flooring wholesaler, only for about a year, but I had total respect for him then and right up to his last day. It was Jack who got me the National Carpet sales agent's job for Saskatchewan, which I had for a number of years, Jack did Manitoba/NW Ontario at the time, then in the last few years National was sold, but it was great to be back working along side Jack. A remarkable and well respected sales manager, sales representative and overall great guy. I will miss you Jack. To all your family, especially wife Peggy, who I met on some occasions, picking up carpet samples at the hair salon, my deepest sympathy. He left us way too young, but we remember you Jack, for all the good things you stood for and did. - Posted by: Barry Smitke (friend) on: May 02, 2013
