RUTH DOREEN COOK August 24, 1922 April 7, 2013 (nee COONEY) Ruth passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at 90 years of age. Ruth was born in Neepawa the youngest daughter of Catherine and Michael Cooney. She grew up in the farming communities of Alonsa, Neepawa and Keyes. In 1945 she moved to Winnipeg and in June of that year married Wilbert Cook. She was employed at Jack Andrews Pharmacy for over 20 years. She was an active member of the Anglican Church, Guild of Health and Over Sixty Club. She was an avid bowler, golfer and line dancer while her health allowed and a lifelong fan of curling and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. She loved to travel and enjoyed many wonderful trips during retirement, many of the adventures shared with her sister Eileen and brother-in-law Reuben. Ruth was predeceased by her beloved husband of 44 years Wilbert Cook and dear sisters Audrey Hall and Eileen McDonald. Her memory is cherished by her sons Ralph Cook (Penny), Alan Cook (Connie) and daughter Glenda DeGrave (Julian). Grandma will be missed by grandchildren Ryan DeGrave (Stephanie), Rory DeGrave (Jessie), Rhys DeGrave (Katherine), Jordan Cook (Chantale), Adam Cook, Alicia Cook (Geoff), "Mini Grandma" will be missed by great-grandsons Lucas DeGrave and Grayson Cook. Ruth is also survived by her dear eldest sister Joan Lawrence (97 years) of Maple Creek, SK and many nieces and nephews who were all so very special to her. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and her "family" at the Westhaven. The family would like to thank Dr. Munsami for respecting our mother's final wishes and the staff of B-5 medicine for providing comfort and care in her final days. Funeral service will be held at the St. Andrews Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Avenue on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice. God's Garden God looked around His garden And found an empty place. He then looked down upon the earth And saw your tired face. He put His arms around you And lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, He knew that you were in pain, He knew that you would never Get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough And the hills were hard to climb, So he closed your weary eyelids And whispered "Peace be Thine". It broke our hearts to lose you, But you didn't go alone. For part of us went with you, The day God called you home. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715
