AILEEN FRANCES CORAN (HURRELL) On April 10, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer, our wife and mother, Aileen, passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital. Aileen was born in Brandon, MB in 1926. She was predeceased by her parents Anne and Harry Jones and brother Archbishop Walter Jones. She is survived by her husband Domenico Coran, and her children Geri Aleman (Anthony), Maureen Nowak, Murray Hurrell (Cathie), Kevin Coran (Mary), her grand-children Paula Phillips (Prescott), Kristal Harman (Larry), Matthew Coran, Jamie Coran, Geoffrey Coran and Keely Hurrell, and her great-grandson Jeremy who she called her little man, her sister Phyllis Northcott, and brother Victor Jones, sister-in-law Norma Coran, numerous nieces and nephews in Canada, USA and Italy. Aileen started her career as a school teacher but once her family came along she became a stay at home mom. In 1961, she began her career with the Manitoba Government in the Research and Planning Department and ended her career in Statistics for the Provincial Government. She retired in 1983 to stay home once more to look after granddaughter Kristal Hurrell. Mum really enjoyed her retirement years travelling all over Canada and USA visiting her family. Her trips to Italy were highlights in her life. She got to know her Italian nieces and nephews, many travelling to Canada to stay with Auntie Aileen and Uncle Nino. She will be greatly missed by all her family and many friends. Her home was open to all and everyone was made to feel welcomed and loved. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in our mother's name to CancerCare or the Winnipeg Humane Society. Memorial service to be held Monday, April 15, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • The sweetest woman, kind and generous to a fault. I miss you, you were the best mother in-law I could have ever had. xoxo - Posted by: Cathie Hurrell (Daughter-inlaw) on: Jul 29, 2013

  • So many stories and memories. Going to Anola on Sundays. Or the evening visits. I always ended up begging to have a sleep over. I couldn't wait to go to their place for her home made cookies. She was a great friend to my parents and I truly thought of her as my Aunt. She will be missed but she lives on in all of us that knew her because to know her was to be better! - Posted by: The Tomasi Family (Family Friends) on: May 28, 2013

  • I still remember every single moment that we had. You are such a great wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother! I miss you grandma! Whenever I go back to Winnipeg, I will definitely go visit you! Enjoy your life on the other side, take care! Love you! Yaosen Yang - Posted by: Yaosen Yang (Grandson) on: Apr 24, 2013

  • Sorry to hear about your mother. I remember doing her hair years ago she was a lovely lady. Your friend Linda - Posted by: Linda Kyrzyk (Friend) on: Apr 18, 2013

  • Thinking of you Maureen at this sad time. Moms are so important and I feel your pain. Take care of yourself - Posted by: Margie Harris (friend of Maureen) on: Apr 15, 2013

  • Our hearts go out to you Maureen, and to Pa and your family. Moms hold a very special place in our hearts and we miss them so very much when they are no longer with us. I miss my Mom in my everyday life. A very fond memory I have Maureen, is the day we took both our Mom's out to lunch at that restaurant by the whitehorse. I think they both really enjoyed themselves. We were suppose to go out again but both of them fell ill. Thinking of you at this sad time. - Posted by: Laura and Glen Ell (old neighbours and friends from Foxgrove) on: Apr 13, 2013
