VICTOR (VIC) EDWARD OSTIR Passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at the age of 78 years. Vic was born to the late Steven and Anne Ostir on August 24, 1934 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Vic was married to his late and beloved wife of 55 years Shirley Ann Ostir. He is survived by his three sons and their wives Gary (Anita), Glenn (Ivonne- Marie) and Grant (Devon), sisters Irene Grinke and Christine Buchel, six grandchildren; Jasmine, Haley, Brennan, Keaton, Hayden and Sydney and numerous family members and special friends. Vic had a long and successful career with the Winnipeg Hydro where he worked until his retirement. He loved spending time at the family's island cottage in Lake-of-the-Woods but it was his passion for hockey where he developed numerous friendships and participated in many hockey related adventures and misadventures - the memory of which will bring a lasting smile to anyone who knew him. Vic lived life to the fullest and that was the central theme of his life. He was loved by many friends and family and he gave them all a hundred great stories to remember him by. Above all he believed a measure of a man was his family - and as a brother, husband, father and grandfather he set the standard by which his family will continue to strive for. Vic would have wanted Ol' Blue Eyes to have the last word, so with that in mind, Vic was simply "King of the Hill, Top of the Heap." Here's to you kid, Heaven is lucky to have you.

  • Hi Vic, believe it or not, I heard the news today... Anyway, thanks for being my family with Sherly and your kids when I was in Manitoba in the 1980s. Thanks for helping me with the Monarchs. You and your wife opened your heart and your door to a foreing child lost without asking anything in return. I will always miss our card games with Shirly "sandwiches and advice". I really believe that you were the nicest person on this planet. Maybe we are losing you but heaven is gaining a Saint. I will always love you and your family. Can't wait to play cards with you again! By the way Vic, I am the one who had the car keys of the limousine at Yves' wedding, oops! Take care of Shirly and see you in a couple of years! Your friend forever, the crazy french man. Marc or Marco for Shirly! - Posted by: Marc Gignac (Friend) on: Jul 06, 2018
