ELEANOR MILDRED SEBASTIAN (nee LEWICKI) August 28, 1935 - April 13, 2013 It is with the deepest regret and sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother, Eleanor, after a lengthy illness on the afternoon of April 13, 2013. Eleanor was predeceased by her parents, Daniel and Anne Lewicki, in-laws Joseph and Mary Sebastian all of Winnipeg; and her only sibling, Norma Tetreau of Willowdale, ON just over a year ago. She will be forever remembered and greatly missed by her loving husband of 56 years, Edward; children Grant (Susan), grandsons Marc (Vanny) and David (Kelsey); Leslie of Tsawwassen, BC and Jonathan of Winnipeg. She will also be missed by her brother-in-law, Frank Tetreau and niece Louise-Ann of Ontario, sister-in-law and best friend, Val Hastings (Tim), nephews Kenneth of Winnipeg and Richard (Niki) and family of Grand Cayman Island; sister-in-law Victoria Sebastian Kereluk, nephew George Kereluk (Jackie) and families all of Victoria, BC and niece Kathryn Connors of Vancouver, BC and numerous cousins, friends and neighbours. Eleanor will also be missed by her Home Care Aid and friend for almost six years, Elke Peilahn of Transcona. Eleanor was a very hard working perfectionist, volunteer and avid reader, an excellent cook and animal lover who appreciated a good joke, loved a good laugh and was respected and loved by many. She was a very loving, caring and generous wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. Many thanks to the excellent staff at Seven Oaks Hospital, Dialysis Unit, and 3rd Floor Units 6 and 7 for the tender loving care they gave our wife and mother during her final weeks. It was deeply appreciated. A private Celebration of Eleanor's Life will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Branch, or the Winnipeg Humane Society.

  • My mom was a 'one of a kind' person. She had so many good qualities and attributes but they were sometimes overshadowed by her illnesses. She always stood for what was right and honest, and she taught me so much in life ... from what she told me and what she didn't tell me. I am glad we had a few weeks to say goodbye. I will miss you with all my heart, you were always there for me, cheering me on, encouraging me to do what my heart desired. I still cannot believe you are gone but you will never, ever be forgotten. It was an honour and a privilege to hold your hand until the very end. You are out of pain, no more suffering ... I wish you nothing but happiness and peace. • I started as a home care worker about 6 years ago and we became very good friends very quick. Maybe because we share the same birthdate, Aug. 28. We always had so much to talk about and solved the worlds problems over a cup of good coffee. RIP Eleanor, love Elke - Posted by: elke (friend) on: Apr 16, 2013

  • Eleanor you were a wonderful person and the thing I will remember most about you was your fabulous Calligraphy writing on Christmas cards. To Eleanor's family, I would like to share a quote with you. "Eleanor has not died but merely gone away to a better place, free of pain and suffering. You will see her again some day" My condolences to the family. RIP Eleanor - Posted by: Patricia Homenick (Cousin of husband Ed) on: Apr 16, 2013
