JOYCE ELEANOR MCCAUSLAND (nee MCKNIGHT) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joyce Eleanor McCausland (nee McKnight), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She passed away after a short battle with cancer on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 73 years. Joyce will be deeply missed by her husband Lawrence, of 55 years; two children Ian McCausland (Lynda) and Tracy Bijl (Rod); grandchildren Sarah, Matthew and Liam; sister Evelyn Day (Gary); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her father Arthur and mother Gladys. On June 22, 1939 Joyce was born and raised on the family farm in the Killarney region where she learned the importance of strong family commitments that she carried throughout her life. She was married on July 5, 1958 to Lawrence George McCausland in Boissevain, Manitoba. Shortly after, they moved to Winnipeg to start their career and family. After her long career in banking, Joyce embraced volunteerism, spending 20 years with the Grace Hospital Auxiliary. She was a familiar and friendly face at The Muffin Stop. While not an avid curler herself, she devoted many hours assisting with the junior curling program at Assiniboia Memorial Curling Club. Joyce was an active member of the Crestview United Church assisting with many church functions. Until recently, she was working part-time as a Costco demonstrator. She enjoyed spending time at the lake with her family and friends at Morden's Meadows. Of the many hats she wore, the one that brought her the most joy was being a grandmother. She could always be counted on to attend the many activities her grandchildren were involved in. Joyce will be remembered and loved by many people for her commitment to family, community and strength of spirit. A Celebration of Joyce's Life will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Sturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Drive, with a reception at the church to follow. The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of St. Boniface Hospital Unit E6 for their kind and compassionate care they provided Joyce. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honour of Joyce McCausland to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation - Ward E6, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6. • Joyce was a special individual who lived life to its full and touched so many lives with her friendly and outgoing personality. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. The one memory that really stands out was our bike ride to Brandon when 5 of us gals, Joyce included wanted a real life adventure. We started our 45 mile bike ride bright and early and managed to get as far as Minto and had a flat tire on one bike. Needless to say we did arrive in Brandon (a little weary to say the least) around 4:00 p.m. in the afternoon. Lots of good old school memories also. Thinking of you all with sincere sympathy at this very difficult time! All my love, Arlene - Posted by: Arlene (May) McKnight (Friend ) on: Apr 19, 2013
