SHUI CHUN AU 1931 - 2013 Peacefully on Tuesday, April 16 at the Health Sciences Centre, with his family by his side. Shui Chun leaves to mourn, and will forever be remembered by, his loving wife of 49 years, Wai Yin (Alice), his children Larry (Alison), Pak (Lisa), Nelson (Liberty) and Cindy (Steve), his nine grandchildren (Zach, Sarah, Kiana, Chett, Tristan, Kailan, Rowan, Ethan and Lydia), two sisters, three brothers, a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, and many nephews, nieces, cousins and family friends. Chun was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, a sister, two brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law and two nephews. At the age of 17, Chun left his home in China and moved to Hong Kong with the promise to always remember and care for his family at home. Chun was known to everyone for his strong work ethic and up until his death he always sent money home to care for those he'd left behind. In 1965, he married Alice and, together with their children, they immigrated to Canada in 1973. Chun worked with his brother Wingkie in the restaurant business in Killarney, MB before moving to Winnipeg in 1979, where he worked at the Marigold restaurant until he retired in 1993. His children cherish many precious memories of growing up as an Au. Chun's life was dedicated to his family, whose lives he enriched with his support, wisdom and unconditional love. A viewing will be held at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway Avenue on Tuesday, April 23 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A memorial service to honour Chun's life will be held Wednesday, April 24 at 2:00 p.m., followed by a burial service at Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Ave. All family and friends are invited to a supper in celebration of Chun's life at the Golden Terrace Restaurant, 245 King Street at 5:00 p.m. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff on the fourth floor, GD ward at H.S.C. for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada are gratefully accepted. THOMSON FUNERAL HOME 782-7211 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsonfuneralchapel.com
