WINNIFRED DE GROOT (nee POYSER) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Winnifred de Groot on April 16, 2013. She will be lovingly remembered by her children John (Hanney), Glen (Joanne) and Lorna; 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Greeting her upon her passing is husband Arthur, daughter Diane and her brothers and sisters. Winnifred was born on the Poyser homestead in Merridale, Manitoba on September 16, 1924. She came to Winnipeg as a young woman, met and married Arthur. Together they settled in North Kildonan. In 1974, they moved to Roblin, Manitoba, owned, and operated the Eastway Motel. Win continued to operate the motel after Art's death well into her late 70's. In 2002, she moved back to Winnipeg to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Winnifred was an avid painter and loved the outdoors and nature. She researched her family tree back to the 10th Century. She spent many winters in Texas and was well travelled. She was fun loving, kind and generous. She always loved a good joke. Thank you to the staff at the Rosewood. Love you forever. A service will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East at Navin Road. Donations may be made in her name to CancerCare or the Heart and Stroke. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery (204) 222-3241 Condolences may be sent to www.greenacresfuneralhome.com
