Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET JUNE CRAIG (neé ETHERIDGE) March 28, 1928 - April 15, 2013 Peacefully, with her children at her side on Monday, April 15, 2013, Margaret passed away at Seven Oaks General Hospital at the age of 85. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Edward in 2007, her father Alfred and her mother Winnifred, as well as her brother Harold. She is survived by her sister Clara Hughes, brother- in-law Jack (Jessie) and sister-in-law Phyllis Szwaluk (Tony). Margaret is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces and many friends. Mum will be lovingly missed by her children Donna (Tony) Chuback, Richard (Pam) Craig and Debra (Joel) Feuer. She also will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Nicholas (Sidira), Jennifer (Blake), Ashleigh (Isaac), Morgan (Jesse) and Kirby (Cory). Gramma adored her grandchildren and they had a close bond with her. She was thrilled to take on the title Granny Margaret as she welcomed her great- grandchildren Noah, Xavier and Sebastian to the family. Margaret's passion was her family and her home was always filled with her children, extended family and friends. She kept everyone well fed with delicious meals and endless baking. Margaret was also a working mum, looking after other people's families with the same love and attention she gave her own. Margaret touched the lives of many people. Margaret was an involved member of St. Luke's Zion Lutheran Church for many years. She volunteered for any task needed including making certain the heat was turned on for Sunday services and especially in making her famous fancy sandwiches for events. The church was also the beginning of many special friendships. Upon her retirement, Margaret decided to volunteer at Seven Oaks Hospital. She was a committed and caring volunteer for twenty one years and was honoured to receive the Volunteer Award of Excellence in 2000. In true Margaret style, she showered people with her wisdom, humour, baking and made many caring and lasting friendships. Mum was an avid gardener and spent countless hours in her flower beds. Her yard was a stunning mix of colours. Margaret was very proud to have won the City of Winnipeg Communities in Bloom award. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and always shared her creations with family and friends. Even as her eyesight failed, mum continued to crochet her famous dish cloths and a special shawl for her newest great grandson, Sebastian. In her younger days Margaret curled in a community league and in her later years rarely missed an opportunity to watch curling and equestrian events on TV. Cards, scrabble and other board games were a family tradition and something she participated in well into her eighties. Mum also enjoyed playing bingo, visits to the casino and of course, her Jumbles. Margaret was an amazing woman with endless energy and a never ending task list! She was strong willed and possessed a tenacious attitude that was known by all. She was not afraid to speak her mind at any time or with anybody. Mum was loved by many and will be missed by all. Our family would like to thank Dr. Sobowale and the staff at Kildonan Medical Clinic for caring for Margaret. Also many thanks to the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital 5th floor, Units One and Two who lovingly cared for mum and her family during the past nine weeks. We appreciate all the family and friends who visited Margaret, sent cards and messages, making mum's time in hospital more bearable. Margaret had strong connections with several of her Home Care Aids at Villa Aulneau. She had a special loving bond with her Home Care Aid, Yodit. Our family is forever grateful for the love and care she gifted to our mum. Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 22, 2013 - 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street with Pastor Lynne Hutchison presiding. Interment and reception will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens 4477 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Luke's Zion Lutheran Church, Seven Oaks General Hospital - Volunteer Service Department or a charity of your choice would be gratefully appreciated. To the Craig family. I was saddened to hear about the passing of your mum. I remember sitting in the living room on McPhillips with Debra helping to roll wool into balls, and Mrs. Craig always giving me a hard time when I asked to "borrow" the phone - asking me where I planned to take it. My thoughts are with you at this time of sadness; remembering the good times will help you through. - Posted by: Debbire (Jarvis) Gourluck (Family friend from way back when...) on: Apr 24, 2013
