Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDNA RUTH PAULENE GIESBRECHT (nee POSCHNER) January 9, 1939 April 21, 2013 On April 21, 2013, Edna peacefully passed away with her family by her side at the Riverview Health Centre at the age of 74. She is survived by her daughter Phyllis McNeil (Rick Fleming), her son Don Giesbrecht (Racquel), her loving grandchildren Aila, Josh, Jane, Ben and great-granddaughter Faith. Mom grew up in the Whitemouth District with 12 brothers and sisters. She met the love of her life while working as a cashier at Penner Foods in Steinbach and it only took five consecutive trips through her cashier station for her to notice him and agree to a date. They were married on December 27, 1964. Their married years were spent in Carman, where Dad was a school teacher and mom, while occasionally working outside of the home, was a wonderful wife and mother who made her house a welcoming home for all. We were so fortunate to have such a loving, caring and accepting mother and grandmother. Her sudden loss leaves us with deep sorrow, but rest easier knowing that she is reunited in Heaven with her loving husband and many family and friends. We love you and miss you Mom. We would like to thank all of the family and friends for their support and love. We would also like to thank the amazing staff at Riverview Health Centre (though Mom's time was brief with you) and St. Boniface Hospital. Your care and compassion during our time of shock and need cannot be understated. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Friends Community Church with Pastor Dale Warkentin officiating. Viewing will take place from Doyle's Funeral Chapel on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. In keeping with Mom's wishes cremation will take place and interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Carman. Memorial donations may be made to the Riverview Health Centre Foundation, 1 Morley Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 2P4 or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Doyle's Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements. www.doylesfuneralchapel.com
