STEPHANIE SHUMILAK (née SAWCHUK) 1932 - 2013 Surrounded by the love of her family, Steffie passed away peacefully at Selkirk Hospital on April 22, 2013, at the age of 80 years. She will be sadly missed by her children Kenneth (Melanie), Katherine (Nelson) Hoffman, Douglas (Lesley), and Lorraine (Robert) Coumont; her grandchildren James Hoffman, Jessica (Tyler) Bullen, Kaitlyn (Noel), Jeannine, Alexander, and Zachary; as well as her two special great-grandbabies Emma Bullen and Lily Porhownik. She will be fondly remembered by her three brothers Dan, George, and Richie and four sisters Olga, Kathy, Virginia, and Vera, extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Bert, brother Billy, and her parents Anton and Anne Sawchuk (nee Lubianecki). She was raised in Cloverleaf, Manitoba and taught at Mayfield School where she met her husband Bert and raised her family in East Selkirk. She was involved for many years on The Lord Selkirk School Board, and they later spent two years in Sudan teaching farming techniques. She loved her years of traveling, Poland, Greece, Israel, Italy, Cuba, California, and their winter home in Florida, but mostly she loved people and being with her family. Special thanks to Susan Sprong and her Home Care Workers. Mom, if I can live my life with a fraction of your grace, intelligence, strength and love, I will have lived a good life. You have earned your rest. We will miss you immensely. Hugs to Dad. Cremation has taken place at her request. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, April 26 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Garson, MB. Interment of ashes will take place at a later date. • My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I have so many fond memories of spending time on the farm with Auntie Steffie and Uncle Bert. Some of the memories I hold close to my heart is when Auntie Steffie would take me out to the pea patch in the garden and let me pick and eat as many peas as I could, some memories not held so close like the time Auntie Steffie and my mother Kathy felt it would be very important for me to witness a calf being born. I spent alot of time growing up on the farm and loved every minute of it. Auntie Steffie, you hold a special place in my heart and will be missed. - Posted by: Sandy Trudeau (nee Telesky) (Niece) on: Apr 25, 2013
