JACOB (JAKE) WIEBE Peacefully, on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at the Victoria General Hospital, Jake Wiebe, aged 90 years, of Winnipeg, MB and formerly of Selkirk, MB, beloved husband of Helen. Prayers will be said Friday, April 26, at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, MB. Funeral services will be held at the Bethel Mennonite Church, 465 Stafford St., Winnipeg, MB, on Saturday April 27, at 2:00 p.m. with viewing hour prior to. Full obituary to follow. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.

  • Mr. Wiebe, introduced me to working in Aboriginal communities (when I was quite a bit younger) at Pine Dock, Matheson Island and Loon Straits in Manitoba many many years ago. I have fond memories of my experiences there and the long drive it took to get to these places. I recall Mr. Wiebe's kindness, gentle spirit and his sense of humour. He always spoke to me of his memories of teaching at Elim Bible School in Altona. My prayers to Mrs. Wiebe and the family in this time of bereavement.   • So many memories of prayer times & singalongs with my Mom Annie Lefteruk, my Baba Pauline Zabogruski, & the rest of our family. Most of them gone now, even the old homestead. Bittersweet memories, mixture of laughter & tears. Thank you Helen & Jake for the love & commitment you've shown us.
