JACOB A WIEBE One last breath and then Dad was gone. Jake is survived by his lifelong sweetheart and best friend, Helen, who he met in 1925, and subsequently married in 1948. His life is also remembered and celebrated by their children Brent (Romie), Margaret (Garnet), Naomi (John), Salome (Eric), Viola (Dave), Orlando (Barb); grandchildren Raymond (Rosa), Amanda (Dave) and siblings Mary (Edwin), Anne (Bill), Tony (Olive), Ed (Alice). Predeceased by his parents Abram and Katherina, and by his siblings Neil, Helen and John. Dad was a preacher, a painter, a chaplain, a salesman, a grocery boxboy, a lumberjack, a blanket maker, a log cabin builder, a rug-maker, a teacher, a singer, a carpenter, a farmer, a baker, and so much more. All of this took us to many different places which we learned to call home. Dad saved his biggest project till the last - Mom taught him to sew and in his remaining years, lovingly sewed 1950 blankets for MCC, providing warmth and comfort to so many in need. Thank you! to the Victoria Hospital 5th floor south staff their tender care knew no bounds. Viewing and prayers on Friday, April 26 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Home, 309 Eveline St. in Selkirk. Celebration of Life on Saturday, April 27 at 2:00 p.m. in the Bethel Mennonite Church, 465 Stafford St. in Winnipeg, with viewing one hour prior to service. His pallbearers will be Brent, Eric, Dave, Viola, Orlando and Amanda. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to MCC. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

We have known Jake and Helen for many years. Jake will be sadly missed. We know he is with our Lord. He was always singing "I'm walking, I'm leaping, I'm praising God" and we know that is exactly what he is doing now in paradise. Dear Auntie Helen and family, my deepest sympathies to you all over the loss of Uncle Jake. It takes a special man to pick up a needle and thread and start sewing quilts. He will be greatly missed. - Posted by: Glenda Dawson (Niece) on: Apr 26, 2013

I was so sorry to hear that Mr. Wiebe passed away. He was such a sincere, friendly, thoughtful, caring person. Mrs. Wiebe, I know you will miss him terribly. He and you both were the kindest people I knew. Somehow, I always thought I would run into you again. Hopefully I will some day. I know my mom and dad will be so delighted to see him. Take care, and God bless you and your family. - Posted by: Linda Peterson (Friend) on: Apr 26, 2013

Dear Helen and family: We and others at Osler Mennonite Church want to express our condolences on the death of Jacob. Those of us who knew him regarded him as positive in the face of difficulty and patience where there was disquiet. He understood that hope could only exist where there was grace. And he practised principles of peace. Jacob is gone but his memories remain. Hold on to the memories and may God bless all of you. Jake is remembered in Saskatchewan.
