RICK (RICKY) DOLINSKI 1959 - 2013 With great sadness, we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our wonderful husband, brother, and dear friend. Rick left us on Friday, April 26, 2013 in Winnipeg, Manitoba at 53 years of age. To all of those who loved him, he was a loving and devoted husband and a wonderful friend. His friends were truly cherished. He was notorious for his kindness and his desire to always put the needs of others before his own. His family, along with so many people he touched, mourn the passing of a man who was a unique, dynamic, and generous human being. Rick was born on October 17, 1959 to Harry and Celia Dolinski. Rick is survived by his wife Dale, the love of his life; his dogs, River and Trickle; his brothers Lawrence (Angela) and Allen (Susan); Dale's family - Thora (Mum) Rene (Roz), Velda, Gordon, and his many nieces and nephews. Rick was predeceased by his dog, Clover, and his parents. Rick loved his work. At retirement, he was Senior Vice President of a national distribution / warehousing / transportation company. He was known for his strong and effective decision-making skills, integrity and fairness. His great love was spending time at the cottage at Lake of the Woods, where he and Dale spent many years building their dream. He loved his "toys", and was known to his friends as Ricky, The Tool Man, Dolinski. Rick and Dale loved to entertain at the lake. Since retiring, Rick and Dale thoroughly loved the lifestyle of travelling in their motorhome. He will be truly missed by many. Special and Heartfelt Thanks Mike and Charlotte, Ray and Diane, and many others for their incredible support. Also, special thanks to the staff at the MICU ward at Health Sciences Centre. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 3, 2013 at 10:00 a.m., at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy., Winnipeg, MB. Donations in Rick's memory may be made to D'Arcy's A.R.C. (Animal Rescue Centre), 730 B Century Street, Winnipeg, MB R3H 0M1.

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • Rick, as is common nowadays; life gets busy. The last time we talked was just before you and Dale ventured off in the motorhome. I just learned today (one year later) of your passing. I am devastated and shocked and equally sad for Dale. I wish we knew sooner; but that’s our own fault. Diana and I will miss you. We were just thinking of you and going to reconnect. Your kindness will be missed; you were a mentor to me. And even now, with you gone, you teach me something new: … not to take time for granted … We will miss how you say good-bye at the end of each phone call... “Love you guys… talk soon…” - Posted by: Dan Pashniak (Friend) on: Apr 04, 2014

  • Rick you have been the dearest of friend. We enjoyed your company so very much. We will miss spending time with you and the Friday night Skypes from here and there while you Dale and the pups travel all over. We will be watching for your star in the heavens. Shine bright dear friend. - Posted by: Peter Kay and Max Harten (Friends) on: May 06, 2013

  • Bud, It was a pleasure to meet, play and love you and your family. It has only been a few years, but I made it past the 10 year mark and it has been a hell of a ride. So far, I have kept my promise to you and if you feel that I am letting you down, just give me a nudge. Since your passing, I have had the opportunity to meet your family and some of your other friends, you have no idea that with you there was never more than 2 layers of separation. Dale, River and Trickle miss you and I will do my very best to help them wherever and whenever I can. Love you and miss you. Your taller brother Mike. - Posted by: Mike (Just Mike) on: May 03, 2013

  • Rick made the world a better place and had a profound effect on everyone he touched in his most special way. To know Rick, was to love Rick.
