DAVID (BUD) GEORGE LANGDON March 21, 1927 - April 27, 2013 Our much loved father, grandfather, great- grandfather and friend passed away peacefully in his home. Predeceased by his wife of 60 years Mae, brother Bill and sister Anne, brothers-in-law Irvin, Ray and Jim and sister-in-law Jean. Forever to cherish Bud's memory are his four children, Sylvia, David, Carol and Jim, sons-in-law Paul and David, daughter-in-law Lynn and 12 grandchildren Natasha, Jana, Andrea and Hope, Sara, Annie and Aiden, Jamie, Cathy and Christopher, Melissa and Michael and 14 great-grandchildren Noah, Wyatt, Cohen, Jackson, Jake, Henry, Livia, Kale, Owen, Warren, Emma, Paige, Ava and Finn. He will also be sadly missed by his sisters-in-law Doreen, Bea, Dorothy and Jackie and his brothers-in-law Bob and Don. Bud was born in Ontario and raised in Langruth, Manitoba, a town founded by his father George and Mr. Ruth. At the age of 16, he enlisted and trained to "do his part" in the Second World War. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and War Medal in 1945 at the war's end. Although he did not serve active duty, his Service for his country extended from 1944 to 1974. His service in the Royal Canadian Air Force took him and his family to various stations including Gimli, Manitoba, Borden, Ontario, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Marville, France, Chatham, New Brunswick and finally returning to Winnipeg where the family settled. This variety offered them shared opportunities and varied interests including a love of travel, as well as a sense of home. He was a Manitoban. Bud was a family man. 60 years of love and devotion to his wife Mae was beyond inspiring, in particular his daily visits to West Park Manor on Handi-Transit in her later years. His love of his children, grands and great-grands was genuine and palatal. The glint in his eye, the smile on his face followed by a great big scruffy hug that engulfed them with a sense of well-being will be truly missed and forever cherished. Bud's interests included sports, which he participated in, such as: curling, baseball and golf. When he was no longer able, he became an enthusiastic fan of those activities, as well as hockey and basketball. He also served his community wherever he lived and wherever he saw a need he could fill. This list is too numerous to mention but included volunteer work at the Agape Kitchen when he retired. He had a special appreciation for those who served him; his Home Care and Medical Care Facilitators went above and beyond happily providing for both his physical and spiritual needs. They often wondered who is taking care of who. He cared deeply for friends and family and his personal example of love, gratitude and faith will be with us forever. We love you Dad, Grandpa, Bud! We know you are reunited with Mom and with your Lord and Saviour. The family is grateful for the loving care Dad received over the years at Lindenwood Manor and would like to extend our gratitude to all of those that worked together so hard to allow Dad to spend his last weeks at home. This thank you extends to Valerie and Lynne, his nurses whose care and love could not go unnoticed. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your favourite charity. Public Memorial Service to be held at Lindenwood Manor - please use the Heritage Entrance - 475 Lindenwood Drive East, Monday, May 6, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. The service will be followed by a reception at the same location.
