MARGARET GIESBRECHT It is with sadness that the family of Margaret Giesbrecht mourns her passing on May 2, 2013. In the early morning Margaret was called home to the arms of the Almighty. As in life, Margaret was carried by her abiding faith to the eternal home she so cherished. And those that shared her earthly home, her family and her friends, mourn her passing and celebrate her life. Margaret goes to join her husband of 47 years, Henry, who travelled on before in 1999. Margaret leaves her family: sisters Anne and Cathy, brother John and her four loving children and their spouses: Dorothy and Brent Diamond; Janet and Donnly Wiebe; Linda and Rolland Gillies, all of Manitoba, and son Ken Giesbrecht of Vancouver, B.C. Margaret was Grandma to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Grandson Derek Holmes, wife Kelly and sons Alex and Erik; grandson Daniel Diamond, wife Becky and daughter Dawn; granddaughter Marley Diamond; grandson Landon Wiebe, grand-daughters Bethany and Andressa Wiebe, grandsons Rolland and Alexander Gillies. Margaret was born October 30, 1925 and lived in Saskatchewan, Ontario, and raised her family in Kola and Winnipeg. Her final years were spent in Lions Manor, Winnipeg. Margaret's love and life was her family. Whether she was preparing a family meal in her home, attending a family gathering or looking after her grandchildren, her smile spoke of the fondness in her heart. She loved the time spent in her garden and putting up preserves. Her doll collection and crocheting and cross-stitch filled her leisure hours. Many of her dolls and pettipoints have found a home in the homes of her family. And in the homes of her family will Margaret be remembered and loved. Her grandchildren will remember with fondness her Grandma hugs', and all will think of her with love. Early in her life Margaret put her faith in Jesus Christ, our Lord. Margaret was long a member of Bethel Baptist Church. It is said in scripture, "And there abideth these three; faith, hope and love But the greatest of these is love". And so it was with Margaret; a life sustained by faith, hope for the future of her children and grandchildren and above all else, love. The love she shared with family and friends, the love they shared in return and will hold in their hearts for her forever more. God bless and farewell, Margaret. A special thank you to the staff at Lions Manor for all their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB. Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 6, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Aunt Margaret was a hardworking and honest woman. You always knew what was what with her. I was amazed by her doll collection that she showed me when I visited after my Mom passed. She always sent newsy Christmas letters, often accompanied with a sampler of cross stitch. It was so obvious how proud she was of her children and grandchildren. I missed those letters in the last few years. Dorothy, Janet, Linda and Ken, I know you and your families will miss her so much. - Posted by: Cindy Risi (Niece) on: May 08, 2013
