Brilliant on many levels. I valued his opinions & judgment through decades & across continents. Regret never having met the family for whom he had such great love. Taken far too soon, I'd hoped to see him once more. Perhaps one day I shall meet his family. - Posted by: Rosemary Kralik (Colleague & friend - H&WC 1970s ) on: Mar 23, 2015

So sorry to hear about Tom's death. I had hoped to see him in the next while, after many years. He was the deputy minister when I worked at the Manitoba Department of Environment, Safety and Health, and supportive of my efforts there in the 1980s. One memory I have of him is dancing to "We're not going to take it" by Twisted Sister at an MFL event (at least I think that was the occasion). Definitely not a traditional high-level functionary. I'll try to find pictures and get them to you. - Posted by: Dorothy Wigmore (former colleague) on: Jun 12, 2013

Katie, Alex, Sheila and Jarka It is with the deepest warmth that I want to convey the sadness of Annalee and myself to learn of Tom's passing. We are far away in Ecuador at the moment - but send our heart-felt hugs. Tom was a wonderful friend and a joy to be with. I like to think that he forgave us for inviting him and Katie and Alex to join us and Jen and Sam at Clear Lake on the very night that his numbers won at Assiniboia Downs!!! And I am sorry that we did not get to add a golfing outing in BC to join the good times on the links in Manitoba, Slovakia and Hungary. I was looking forward to it - but am nourished by the opportunity to have known Tom in the time that we had together, as I am sure can be said by so many who had the good fortune to know him. Dear Sheila, Alex and Katie, We are very saddened to hear that dear Tom has succumbed to his illness. It was a great pleasure for us to have been friends with all of you over the years and it was a great surprise for us when we met Tom by accident in Vancouver Airport and to have spent some time with him. We are very sorry that you have lost a good friend and father and there will be a big vacuum in your lives. It is hard to believe that one so vibrant as Tom can be gone and we are very sorry for your loss and indeed for ours. Love Roni and Ken - Posted by: Veronica & Ken Wilson (Friend) on: May 06, 2013

Katie & Family: My deepest condolences to you all. Tom was my colleague at Thompson Rivers University. I am so appreciative of the Environmental Award he presented me with in 2012. Tom was an extraordinary educator and gracious man. He had an uncanny and marvelous gift of putting people at ease. It was a privilege and honor to work with him albeit briefly. His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of many and his work will continue to inspire many of us. With kindest regards,I will treasure my memories of Tom. God Bless. - Posted by: Alice Rae Stoddard (colleague and friend) on: May 05, 2013

So sorry Katie and family to hear of your Dad Tom's dying. I remember helping you do the photo album for his 60th and what fun that was to see all the past photos and how the family looks came through the generations. And I remember you and Paul talking about visiting Tom in Europe when he was working over there and how much fun you had and what a good host he was to you both. It is very sad to lose a parent ... all my love, Mary. - Posted by: Mary Janeth Beehler (Friend) on: May 04, 2013
