LARRY VERNER MOLDOWAN
Born: Dec 28, 1940
Date of Passing: Apr 27, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLARRY VERNER MOLDOWAN December 28, 1940 - April 27, 2013 After a seven year battle with cancer, Larry left us early Saturday, April 27, 2013. Sheer determination kept him at home as long as possible. Left to mourn his passing is his wife Pat, daughter Tammy (Gary) Tervoort, sons, Vaughn and Devon, and daughter Vhana (fiance Hugh), grandchildren, Amanda Tervoort (partner Gerald) and Mike Tervoort. He also leaves his niece Roberta (Ken) Berg and nephew Ryan Ronald, as well as the many relatives in his extended family. Larry was predeceased by his parents Otto (1985) and Evelyn (2005), and his sister Linda Ronald (2007). Larry was born in Winnipeg on December 28, 1940 and often said that he was too late for Christmas, and too early for New Years, but probably spoiled them both. His early years were spent west of Chatfield, taking his schooling by correspondence until Grades 11 and 12 in Teulon. He worked for Brooks Equipment, Pepsi Cola and the CN Railway for a few years until his cousin bet him a bottle of spirits that he couldn't get a teaching job. This bet saw him on his way west to Isabella where he met Pat, and they were married May 16, 1964. Larry taught at Tilston, Miniota and Elphinstone, ending up in Stonewall in 1971. After teaching for 13 years Larry made a switch to bus driving for Greyhound and enjoyed his years with them immensely. He had many stories from up and down the road for anyone that would listen. When, as he says, "he was forced to retire in 2005", he was at loose ends for a while and then started driving for Lakefront Charters, enjoying his many trips with Joann's Tours and Honor's Travel to the many casinos. Larry was a member of the Stonewall Kinsmen Club, served on town council, was a school trustee, served on the Stonewall United Church Council, the Teacher's Union and Greyhound Union and even tried his hand at provincial politics. He will be missed around the bridge table and could often be heard to say, "The biggest crime in bridge was having a slam and not bidding it!" A celebration of Larry's life will be held at Mackenzie Funeral Home in Stonewall at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2013, with Reverend Leonard Oracheski officiating. Pallbearers will be Gary Tervoort, Mike Tervoort, Roberta Berg, Ryan Ronald, Rick Hurlin and Hugh Clouatre. Honorary Pallbearers are all his Greyhound colleagues. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to a charity of one's choice, but I am sure that Larry is looking down and saying, "Only a charity that does not send out too many mailings!" Larry will be missed. A lovely, warm gentleman with a great sense of humour. He stayed with us for a time while attending university and we had many good times. He was a real family man and his loss will be felt by all of us. - Posted by: Mary Wolke (Cousin) on: May 16, 2013

I am deeply saddened by Larry's passing, and not having had a chance to say goodbye before he left us. I had a nice chat with him last fall after Uncle Anton's funeral, and I will never forget how friendly and warm he was to me every time we were in the same place at the same time. He was a very kind soul, and always generous with anything family related. I have a fond memory of Larry tutoring me in calculus when I was in university, and he helped me understand things better than any teacher there ever did. I will miss him dearly, and I know that Jesus has a special place for him. - Posted by: John Iverson (Cousin) on: May 06, 2013

Larry always brightened up the day at school and liked to tease. He always had his head in a good book and was a good brother to his sister Linda. I have fond memories of Larry and his sister Linda. They were good and kind neighbours. I think of them often and I will not forget them ever. RIP Larry. You shot the puck and scored. - Posted by: Kristine Palsson (Friend and old school pal) on: May 04, 2013
