MARIA KISIL It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Babcia and Pra-Babcia, Maria Kisil on May 7, 2013 surrounded by her devoted and caring family. Maria was predeceased by her loving husband Jozef Kisil and brother Jozef Cebula. She is survived by her loving daughters Lucy (Edward) and Giena, six grandchildren Tammy (Russell), Hugh, Samantha (Damien), Serina (Russell), Sherrie and Nick. She leaves to mourn nine great-grandchildren, her sister Kasia and numerous nieces and nephews in Poland. Mama was born in Poland on March 20, 1919. She met her husband Jozef after the war and was married in England. They immigrated to Canada to raise their family in Winnipeg. Our mama was a kind and gentle lady who loved spending time with her family. She loved cooking, gardening, feeding the birds, mushroom picking, crocheting and telling stories about her life. She has left us with many beautiful memories that we will cherish forever. Prayers will be said on Friday, May 10 at 7:00 p.m. in Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 11 at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery Our family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital and Palliative Care for their support in caring for Babcia in her final days. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • It's hard to believe it's been 3 years since the passing of Mrs. Kisil. On this mothers' day I would like to take a moment to honor Maria and just express my love and thoughts with her family. Babcia, you have an amazing family and I know you look down on them with that contagious never ending smile. But when something didn't sit well with you , lol, there was that look of calm with the pursed lips to show your disapproval. You were a wonderful example of what it means to be the head of the family- I miss you , you were an amazing women and I must say - you have a legacy of amazing women God bless your wonderful family And we are thinking of you tonight Rene, Kyla, - Posted by: Rene B (Family fruend) on: May 09, 2016

  • As we mourn the loss of Mrs. Kisil (whom I affectionately refer to as Babcia) we also celebrate the life of a wonderful woman who radiated warmth, love and dignity. I have been a close family friend for many years and have many fond memories of family gatherings and visits to Babcia's house. Mrs. Kisil always made me feel welcome and part of the family. She was energetic and kind, she always had stories to tell and food to serve. Her home was full of laughter, joy and celebration - She so loved her family and they adored her, you could feel the strength of that love simply by being in the presence of this amazing family. During this time of sorrow, may the beautiful memories bring peace to all who were blessed enough to have known and loved Mrs. Kisil. My love and prayers and sympathy go out to you all. - Posted by: Rene B. (Close family friend) on: May 11, 2013

  • Mrs. Kisil was a wonderful, kind and gracious woman. She was a loving mother and Grandmother. She was as close to sainthood as anyone I have ever known. So was my beloved mother Stella Walc. They shared many things in common while they were both alive and I know that they are continuing their friendship in heaven where they both are. I love you Maria Kisil and I will never forget you. - Posted by: Theresa Wojciechowski (nee Walc) (Close family friend throughout my entire childhood life. My mother and father were very good frien) on: May 08, 2013
