  • Kathy, Frank and I are in Zurich, Switzerland on vacation and unable to attend the funeral, we send you our condolences. Doug was one of Frank's longtime friends at Winnipeg Hydro, somehow they parted company in retirement. Doug and Frank used to golf together, especially in Lorette, and would enjoy a beer together afterwards in the Boone's backyard. Doug was a friend to Joan as well and we both were shocked and sorry to see that Doug has died. - Posted by: Frank and Joan Boone (Long time friends) on: May 12, 2013

  • Doug was my skip the first year I started curling at the Granite. I watched him deliver the rock and tried to follow his example. Doug was a good natured man and so easy going. He will surely be missed! - Posted by: Brad Weitzel (Friend) on: May 11, 2013

  • So very sad to see you go. I will remember the many good times we had. You were a good friend. Good bye Mr. Bear. - Posted by: Ken Stear (friend/co-worker) on: May 11, 2013

  • Our deepest condolences to Kathy and family. Doug was a wonderful person. We have great memories of Doug as our first skip and his kind words of encouragement as we tried to master the game. I also have fond memories of Doug at Winnipeg Hydro. He always took the time for us less senior as we struggled with difficult customers. He had a calm and caring disposition. - Posted by: Paddy and Brad Weitzel () on: May 11, 2013
