KRISTJANINA (HELGA) JOHNSON Peacefully on Saturday, May 11, 2013 our beloved Helga passed away at the Arborg Hospital. Helga was 93 years old. Helga is joining her beloved husband, Snibjorn, who predeceased her in 1973, and her cherished son Rick in 2011. Helga was predeceased by her beloved parents, Benjamin and Juliana Gudmundson who had a wonderful family of 10 children. Helga is predeceased by her siblings, Stebba, Valdi, Mike and twin Julius (passed away at birth), Franklin, Blanche (passed away at four months old), Hermie, Gudrun and Lily. Left to mourn her passing are her children: daughter Birdeen (Harry) Malchuk, and son Valdimar (Doreen) Johnson, five grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Helga taught school at the Framnes School prior to becoming a wife and loving mother. In 1973 Helga opened Yarn Paradise in Arborg and operated the store until present. Mother was a professional seamstress and she was exceptionally talented with her vast skills of sewing, knitting and in many of her beautiful creative projects that have brought so many family members and others happiness and joy. Mother was also a gifted musician that brought the wonderful sounds of music and laughter to the hearts of all. Helga was well known as a community icon and will be missed by many. Thank you to Dr. Issac for all his genuine care and compassion as well as many others for their support throughout this sorrowful time. A treasured remembrance will be held at the Ardal-Geysir Lutheran Church, Arborg, MB on Saturday, May 18, 2013, viewing is at 1:30 p.m., followed by remembrance at 2:00 p.m. After the interment at the Arborg Cemetery relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the lunch at the Church.
