ARTHUR IVAR PETERSON Surrounded by family, Arthur Ivar Peterson passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the Hunter Memorial Hospital, Teulon, Manitoba at age 84. Art is survived by his wife Alice, of 54 years; his daughter Laurie (Gerald), grandchildren, Luke (Andrea), Liane (Craig), Erik, and Jesse, great-grandchildren, Halle and Kipton; his sons Dennis (Lisa), grandson Aiden; Darryl (Lisa) and grandchildren, Amber, Alex, Karl and Kristina. Also survived by his brothers Hartley and Victor, and sister Margaret. Art was predeceased by his parents Evald and Ingeborg, and brothers, Gotthard, Alvin and George. Art was born in Teulon in 1929 and grew up in the Norris Lake District on the family farm. Art left the family farm and married Alice Enberg in 1959 and raised three children in the Grant Park area of Winnipeg. Art pursued a career in carpentry. He took great pride in his trade and his fine workmanship can be seen in many homes throughout Winnipeg, Selkirk and the Norris Lake District. He was especially proud of the replica church he built at the Norris Lake Cemetery only a few years ago. After retirement Art and Alice moved back to the Norris Lake District to the place he built. Art always had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed being in the bush if for cutting wood or for the continued pursuit of that trophy Buck. Art was known for his love of traditional Country Western Music and as a young man Art could be heard singing and playing his Gibson Guitar at local dances and then later at family gatherings with his sister in-law Helen. A gathering of Family and Friends celebrating his life will take place on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Norris Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Wildlife Federation or the Norris Lake Cemetery Fund. MACKENZIE FUNERAL HOME TEULON (204) 467-2525 mackhome@mts.net

  • So sad for you Alice and your (extended) Family. So pleased that I had met Art and Alice at their farm. I have fond memories of lunches with Alice, Art, Victor, Helen and Joy in Winnipeg. That day I visited the farm and Art showed me his collection of Antiques and we had a convivial lunch and many laughs, along with a visit with Helen and Joy to the cemetery in Norris Lake, when we saw the church replica Art had built, are memories I cherish.
