Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGLENNIS JOY WILSON (nee HARVEY) Glennis passed away peacefully on May 15, 2013 at Grace Hospital after a short battle with cancer, with her husband Don and son Kevin at her side. Glennis was predeceased by her son, Michael, her father, Nelson, mother Joy, and brother Gary Harvey. She leaves to mourn, Don, her husband of 59 years, son Kevin (Willow), grandchildren Samantha, Jennifer, Jesse, Rebekah, and Hannah, sister-in-law Beverley Hall, sister-in-law Susan Thompson, special friend Susan Kuz and many grand-nieces, nephews and cousins. Glennis was born March 30, 1934 in Dauphin MB. Soon after her birth, the family moved to Morris, MB so her father could further his teaching career. Then two years later, the family moved to Winnipeg. After completing grade 12, Glennis worked briefly as a teller and Comptometer, operator at RBC, and then in the same capacity at The Hudson's Bay Company. In 1954 Glennis married her high school sweetheart, started a family and settled in as a homemaker. In 1959 their son Michael was born, and in 1964 Kevin came along and we moved into a larger house. The camping years soon followed, and every summer meant several weeks at Grand Beach or Big Whiteshell. Glennis loved the camping life and lived for summer. In the late 1970s we acquired a lot in Grand Marais (Grand Beach), and built a cottage in which we spent much of every summer. The New Year's Day Horseshoe tournament was an annual highlight, as well as leisurely beach activities. Glennis loved to curl up with a good book and enjoy the sound of the birds. Back home there were activities such as baseball, soccer, hockey and football to attend. We enjoyed two coast to coast camping trips, one from Winnipeg to Halifax and the very next year from Winnipeg to BC. Glennis and Don vacationed every winter in Mexico and the Caribbean, as well as Florida and Texas. Glennis had a brief modeling career and was interested in gardening, crafts and baking. She was an avid reader and was always seen with a book. Watching our local teams, The Bombers, The Jets, and The Winnipeg Clubs Oldtimers were some of her favourite pastimes. Then there was the "Hen Club". The group of girls/ladies formed in high school and who met twice a month over the years. In the last few years the "Hen Club" helped look after Glennis as her health was failing. A special thanks to a special group. A funeral service for Glennis will be held Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Winnipeg, MB. R3K 1W3.
