Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID BREEN MCGIBBON June 21, 1942 - April 11, 2013 David was born and educated in Manitoba. He was predeceased by his parents Bunty Breen McGibbon and Ken McGibbon MD. David leaves his sister Nicki Douglas (Bryce Douglas), two nephews, B.C. Douglas (Heather Hrousalas), Ken Douglas (Jackie Clarke Douglas) and a niece, Tori Newall (David Newall) and six great-nephews and niece. Charlie, Willie and Callia Newall, Connor, Natalie and Jack Douglas. Except for a couple of years at Shattuck Academy in the United States, he was educated in Manitoba. Early in his life he was nicknamed Jolly, a name that totally suited him. He was Jolly, kind and generous. He was known for his incredible memory especially when it came to family and Winnipeg history. Jolly lived in Winnipeg, Toronto and Vancouver before retiring back in Winnipeg. He spent summers at The Lake of the Woods and truly loved it there. There will be a memorial service in Winnipeg on June 7 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway, following a private interment. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation, 21 Sylvan St. W., Kenora ON P9N 3W7. Dave and Jane and I were friends over many years. Also, Jane's parents were life-long friends of Bunty and Doctor Ken McGibbon. MEMORY: When I was a lawyer in Wpg I defended Jolly on some kind of a highway traffic charge - we won the case - Jolly was acquitted - and as we left the court parking area - Lac de Bonnet (I think), I backed my new Chevrolet fast back into a post.
