Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGORDON PAUL GIEG 1928-2013 Suddenly on May 19, 2013 at the age of 85, Gordon Gieg of Winnipeg passed away at Arborg Regional Hospital with his loving wife Sheila at his side. He is survived by Sheila and his sons Grant (Linda) and Scott (Anne) along with his only granddaughter Jenny, who always put the light in his eyes. He was predeceased by his parents Henry and Anna, and his siblings Bill, Albert, Bernice (Bunny) and George. Also left to mourn his passing are his sisters-in-law Kathy and Kae, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Gordon and Sheila were married in 1953 and shared 60 years together. As a young man, he enjoyed playing drums, hockey, baseball and curling. He worked for the federal government for 39 years with Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration as a field surveying technician, retiring in 1988. He had a great love of the outdoors and nature. He enjoyed many happy times on vacations with his family, including camping, fishing and boating. He and Sheila built a cottage on Lake Winnipeg for the whole family to enjoy. Gordon was a quiet, simple, down-to-earth, hard working family man who always put his family first. You were the love of my life, I will miss you. Rest In Peace. - Sheila Cremation has taken place with a Memorial Service to be held at a later date. Donations in Gordon's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
