EVERETT GERRIT (GEORGE) MULDER November 8, 1920 - May 19, 2013 It is with sadness and fond memories that we announce the passing of Everett, aged 92, on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Seven Oaks Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Everett is survived by his two children, son Stewart (Val) and daughter Lesley; four grandchildren, Spencer (Liz), Douglas (Sarah), Cameron (Chieko), and Stacey-Anne; five great-grandchildren, Anika, Callie, Eli, Ritsu, and Kaya; and his special friend, Rose Stemken. He is also survived by four siblings, brothers Dick and George and sisters Areen and Nellie Allen, along with numerous nephews and nieces and many friends. Everett was predeceased by his wife, Della, in 2008. Everett was born on November 8, 1920 in East St. Paul, Manitoba to George Mulder and Dirksje (Daisy) Bezemer. He grew up in East St. Paul and lived there much of his life. He served in the army as a foot soldier in Esquimalt during the Second World War. After returning, he worked at market gardening in East St. Paul, eventually expanding into Portage la Prairie with his brother, Dick, and later into Carberry with Tony Adriensen. Later, he and Dick expanded into heavy construction with the start-up of Mulder Bros. Ltd., and they continued to grow the company until its sale in 1970. He was always proud of the contribution he made to the construction of the Red River Floodway. Everett married Della Elizabeth Jenkinson on January 17, 1948, and they were happily married for 60 years. In 1970, they bought a cottage at Falcon Lake and enjoyed many weekends playing cards, boating, fishing, gardening, and entertaining friends. Together, they owned several horses, which they raced at Assiniboine Downs. Both Della and E.G. loved to travel and visited much of the world over the years. Some of their favourite trips were to Australia, Russia, an African Safari, and the many winters in Mexico with their motorhome caravan tour group. Everett was a truly special person; he was always willing to help out and considered fair, kind and loyal by everyone who knew him, which was a lot of people as it seemed everywhere you went with him he knew somebody. His family was very important to him, as he was to them. He enjoyed weekly lunch dates with his grandchildren and cherished his great-grandchildren. His infectious smile and generous spirit live on in the hearts of four generations of family. He went out of his way to stay in touch with those he considered friends. His life is a reminder to always make an effort and never take the important people in your life for granted. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Covenant Christian Reformed Church, 653 Knowles Avenue. Reception to follow. In lieu of sending flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice in Everett's memory or that you drop off his favourite flowers, Gladiolas, to someone for whom you care, as he often did in springtime. Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • My father, Percy William Dodd, the first Manager of the Portage-la-Prairie Market Garden often mentioned Ev in his reminiscences. Sadly Percy passed on in 1999, however Bessie is still with us at 98 years old, living in a Home in Nanaimo, BC. We wish fond memories of Everett, to all his family from the Dodds. - Posted by: Brian Dodd (Son of a friend) on: Jul 06, 2013

  • On behalf of the entire Campbell Clan: our deepest condolences to the family. Mulder and Della were great friends of Don and Fran Campbell, with many memories which live on through their children Don, Sandy, Dianne, and Gail. There must be a great card game going on with the four of them now!! - Posted by: Crystal (Friend of family) on: May 29, 2013

  • From Edna, it is with deepest sympathy I send this note. Ev was a dear friend and I know will be truly missed. I have many happy memories of Del and Ev. From Maureen, I send my sincere condolences to the family. Having no Aunts and Uncles of my own we adopted "Uncle Ev" and "Aunt" Della as our own. I too have many happy memories, Christmas Eve, the corn roasts and playing in the tomato fields just to mention a few. Rest in Peace "Uncle" Ev. - Posted by: Maureen (Rendle) Plati and Edna Rendle (Adopted Uncle and dear Friend) on: May 27, 2013

  • My first job was working at Mulder Bros in the 70s. Everett was such a kind soul and very soft spoken. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Rest in Peace. - Posted by: Gayle Nickol (Birdsell) (worked with Everett ) on: May 25, 2013

  • My condolences to the family. My late husband Paul Rondeau worked for Mulders for 26 years, starting in 1964 when it was Mulder Bros. Everett was a very honest and fair man and Paul always enjoyed working for his company. Paul passed away in 2003. - Posted by: Diane Rondeau (wife of deceased Paul Rondeau) on: May 25, 2013
