WALTER KOTHUBER On Friday, May 24, 2013 after a six month struggle with cancer, our beloved Wally died with dignity and peace at the Stonewall Hospital. Left to cherish him are his wife Jan, daughter Tara (Dennis), and son Ian; his grandchildren Farrah, Jeremy and Landon. He will also be missed by his sister Troudle, and nephews and niece in Germany and by two nieces in Texas. He was predeceased by his father Peter, mother Karoline and his dear sister Christl. Wally came to Canada in 1956 to start a new life and continued his established talented career with sheet metal work at Quest Metal until his retirement in 1990. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent many hours in his yard and workshop building things, fishing, and with his beloved pets. His love for horses was always present and he spent a great deal of time with his friend Beau. He had a social sense and spent time with his friends in the garage engaging in an occasional rum and coke. He always looked forward to his fishing trips in the summer and enjoyed the companionship with his friends and son during those times. He enjoyed his grandchildren and was proud of them. Wally and Jan made many trips overseas to visit family and various destinations over the years. His love for the Alps always persisted and with the many fond memories he always had a yearn to return. Our family would like to thank the many friends who were so supportive and helpful during this difficult journey and in particular "The Three Musketeers"- Jerry, Dave, and Rick. We would also like to thank our congregation, Deacon Gowrie and the ministers of the New Apostolic church for all your prayers, love and support. Many thanks to the staff of Cancer Care and a special bouquet to the staff of the Stonewall Hospital for your compassionate and empathetic care. A celebration in honour of Wally's life will be held on May 29, 2013, Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. at the New Apostolic Church, 1755 Taylor Avenue, Winnipeg, R3N 1Y2. Interment will be at a later date at Rockwood Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Those who wish to express their sympathy in this manner may donate to Cancer Care Manitoba or Palliative Care in the Interlake Regional Health Authority.
