WILLIAM GEORGE (BILL) BROWNING July 2, 1931 - May 25, 2013 It is with much sadness we announce the peaceful passing of William George "Bill" Browning on Saturday, May 25, 2013 while on a fishing trip at Lake of the Prairies at the age of 81 years. Bill leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife of 59 years Doreen and daughter Kimberly. Bill was predeceased by his parents Clifford and Rose and by his son Myles. Bill was born in Dauphin and grew up in the district of Ogilvie, where his parents ran the country store. Bill attended Soudan School as a child and received his high school education in Gladstone. As a young man, Bill owned a livestock and grain farming operation and excelled in the cattle business his entire life. Bill was a licensed Livestock Dealer and loved the cattle business. He attended auction sales right up until his passing. In addition to farming, he obtained his Real Estate License and became a member of the Manitoba Real Estate Association. He owned and operated William G. Browning Realty for several decades. Growing up in the country, Bill loved the outdoors and had a deep appreciation for nature. An excellent marksman, Bill was an avid hunter in his younger years and loved to fish in his later years. Bill was a member of the Gladstone Elks, and received his 60 year pin in 2012. Bill met his failing health with dignity and fortitude. Despite his physical limitations, he never complained and fought to stay active every day. Duncan of the Brandon Regional Health Centre for his excellent care of Bill over the years. Special thanks to Dave and Pat McKinley for their assistance at this difficult time. • There were five Grandchildren of Edward (Ted) and Kate Browning. We all grew up within 2 miles of each other, lots of family gatherings, always lining up the five of us for pictures. We played together, went to the same school. Bill and Jean McLarty stayed close to home, here I am away off in south east Arizona. I was back for visits and Bill has been here several times. We formed a bond, Bill and I, he met my children and kept in touch. There a many great memories. Picking wild raspberries, Swimming in the farm ponds, skating on the same ponds in winter. Bill's first business venture when he was just a boy, he raised chickens and sold eggs. We all got paid 10 cents a quart by my mother for the raspberries. Bill would find a good patch and pick the most berries.I will miss but have many great memories. Bon voyage Bill. Edie May - Posted by: Edith May Beatty nee White (First Cousin) on: May 31, 2013

  • We were five grandchildren, growing up on the Manitoba Prairie. We played together as children, forming a close bond that continued over the years. We lost Maurice at 15 and my brother a few years ago. I remember Bill raising chickens and selling eggs when he was a boy, he was always busy. We all picked wild raspberries for my mother at 10 cents a quart, he would find a good patch and keep it his secret. We were good friends, I will miss him. Bon voyage Bill. - Posted by: Edith May Beatty nee White (First cousin) on: May 31, 2013

  • Very sorry to hear of Bill's passing - Posted by: Gary welch (Friend) on: May 30, 2013

  • Bill always talked to me at family functions and out at our farm when he visited and I remember him fondly but didn't know him that well. Several things in the obituary came as a surprise to me like Bill's interests outside of work. I won't be able to attend the funeral but I'm sure other people will find out things they didn't know. - Posted by: Michael Browning (Not sure, Nephew? Cousin?) on: May 30, 2013

  • I did not know Bill personally but wish to offer sincere condolences. Bill sounds like a wonderful man. At such a time it is difficult to think of the future, yet the scriptures hold a promise for ones like Bill. At john 5: 28, 29 it states that "all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out." Indeed, the scriptures indicate that we will soon see our loved ones again. May you find comfort in the hope found therein. - Posted by: Someone who cares () on: May 30, 2013
