ALEXANDER (ALEC) ORVILLE SANDY Shortly before midnight on May 27, 2013, surrounded by love, Alexander Orville Sandy passed away peacefully at the age of 78. He leaves behind a large family including his brothers Danny (Elaine), Joe (Karn), and Wally (Marge); his former wife Dolores and her family; four daughters, Kim Midford (Jim), Dani Diduck (Glenn), Andrea Babinsky (Mike), and Peggy Sorenson (Todd): grandchildren Jamie (Jeff), Jeremy (Stephanie), Krista (Phil), Courtney (Nyle), Lindsay, Nicole, Alex (Jenna), Jaclyn, Danielle, Mackenzie, Callie, Jake, Isaac, Logan, and Callum; also grandson Zack who is already in heaven; great-grandchildren Jordan, Isabella, Jaxon, Olivia, Jaidyn, and Ryan; life-long friend Gordie, and many other nieces, nephews and close friends. Alec grew up in the North End of the City and spent most of his life living and working there. After working for the railway for several years, Sarge joined the West Kildonan Police Service from which he retired after 3l 1/2 years. He worked in District 3 for the majority of his career before going into the Vice Division. After retiring from the Police Force, he continued his law enforcement career at the Casino in Security. After 15 years at the Casino, he retired for a second time and finally had the opportunity to relax and enjoy his family and friends. He was proud of having been a police officer. He was even more proud of his family. In typical Alec style, he was very specific about "keeping it simple" when he died. The family is honouring his wishes with their need to say a final farewell with a Gathering of Remembrance to be held on Tuesday, June 4 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, reception to follow service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests you honour him in whatever way is most appropriate to your beliefs, whether it be remembering him in your prayers or sharing a happy memory of him with other family and friends. A donation could be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society in his memory. Rest in Peace Dad We Will Love You Always! Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111

I had the pleasure of meeting Alex through an acquaintance, and although I did not know him for a long time, I found that he was a very compassionate caring man. Always a big smile when we would show with coffe and a donut. We enjoyed chatting with him and listening to his stories. He always had good advice. You will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved you. May you rest in peace.. - Posted by: Joanne () on: Jun 01, 2013
