PETER TURESKI It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter James Tureski at his residence on May 30, 2013 at the age of 86. Peter leaves Helen his loving wife of 58 years. Peter was predeceased by daughter Dianna and leaves children Peter (Ardith) and Susan (Jim Hanson); grandchildren Heather and Kevin; sister Helen Smerchanski, brother John, sister-in-law Joyce and many nephews, nieces and cousins who were an important part of his life. Peter was born to Jessie (Lysak) and William Tureski on March 12, 1927 in Rainy River, Ontario. At a young age Peter moved to Winnipeg to work as a machinist apprentice at the CNR Fort Rouge shops. It was in Winnipeg that Peter met Helen and they married on September 3, 1954. In 1956 Peter joined the Ford Motor Company and had a career spanning 32 years. Peter was not content to sit idle in retirement so he joined the Federal Development Bank using his business knowledge to council small business owners and did so with great satisfaction and pride for 10 years. Peter was a long time brother of the Masonic Lodge and a founding member of the Westwood Presbyterian Church and served on the vestry for many years. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 10, 2013 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to all the staff of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority Palliative Care Group for their outstanding care and support given to Peter. Flowers are gratefully declined. In lieu of flowers a donation to Prairie Places Inc. would be most appreciated. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website.
