STANLEY GRANT FULKERSON December 28, 1940 May 31, 2013 At his home, after a short battle with cancer, Grant Fulkerson passed away peacefully on May 31, 2013. Grant was born December 28, 1940, in Dauphin, the first child of Rufus and Mabel Fulkerson of the Bay Centre district. He attended Bay Centre School, then Dauphin Collegiate. After graduation Grant worked for the Department of Highways at Dauphin. He enjoyed fishing and hunting especially partridges. He was an avid baseball player first base for the "Allard's Team". He married Louise Carter of Ochre River in 1963, and they had four sons, Scott, Warren, Carter and Ian. After a few years they moved to Port Alice, BC. where Grant was employed by the paper mill. In 1974 Grant returned to Manitoba. He then worked as a security guard at Jenpeg, the Hydro project in northern Manitoba where he met Linda Bell, a nurse, whom he married on May 17, 1975 at Brandon. They made their home in Winnipeg where Grant was employed by Griffin Steel for over 10 years. They were able to travel from coast to coast in Canada as well as into the States as far as Yellowstone National Park. Even made it to the Calgary Stampede. Grant had a passion for "big cars" as evident by the number of times they changed vehicles. He was an excellent dancer so they enjoyed much good music together. Grant retired from their foray into business "Everything Video" for health reasons. They moved to Paradise Village in 1994. Linda retired in 2004. Grant experienced more health challenges in 2007 but remained optimistic yet realistic. Grant is survived by his wife, Linda, three sons: Scott (Andrea) of Gibsons, BC, Warren (Adele) of Port Alice, BC and Carter (Pam) of Sechelte, BC; and six grandchildren: Hunter, Madison, Lauren, Liam, Bonnie and Melanie; two sisters: Marion (Dennis) Storozinski of Dauphin and Eva (Morris) Mazurkewich of Gilbert Plains; also nieces, nephews and extended family. Grant was predeceased by one son, Ian, of Vancouver, BC, his parents, Rufus and Mabel Fulkerson, and his in-laws, Allan and Alberta Bell of Brandon. Interment of Stanley's ashes in the family plot in Dauphin will take place at a later date. We wish to thank the Ste. Anne Home Care and Palliative Care for their assistance and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements by BIRCHWOOD FUNERAL CHAPEL 1-204-346-1030 OR 1-888-454-1030
