MARIO TRUNZO September 24, 1934 - June 9, 2013 It is with deep sadness that we announce, after a lengthy illness, the passing of Mario Trunzo at 78 years of age. Mario will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Rosaria (nee Sicoli), of 58 years, his sons Beniamino (Andrea), Gianfranco (Jo-ann), grandchildren, Michael, Amanda, Nicole, Jessica and Samantha, his sister Grazia (Giuseppe) Colosimo, as well as his numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins in Winnipeg, Sault Ste Marie, Italy, the United States, and those that are in all corners of the world. Mario was predeceased by his parents Beniamino and Vittoria, his sisters and their husbands Tommasina (Antonio) Pasqua and Genoveffa (Fortunato) Cuda. He was born September 24, 1934 in San mango D'Aquino, Catanzaro, Italy. After losing his father at a young age, Mario began working when he was 16 to help his mother. He met Rosaria and they were married on June 18, 1955. With their two young sons, they immigrated to Sault Ste Marie, Ontario in 1958, where he took up work with Algoma Central Railway. They eventually moved to Winnipeg in 1962 to join his sisters. For Mario, family was his life. Whenever his sons were in need when building or repairing, he was there with tools in hand. In Winnipeg, Mario worked numerous jobs, but he eventually returned to work with the railways. He was very proud to work for CP Rail where he retired with 30 years of loyal service, after which his hands did not stay idle, and he continued to help out his family whenever needed. He also enjoyed tending to the family garden with his wife Rosaria. Many people who walked by marveled at the beautiful garden, and often enjoyed the fruits of their labour. However, his greatest pride was watching his grandchildren grow into the people they are today. Viewing will take place on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 10:00 a.m., in the Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave., with Father Sam Argenziano presiding. Mass of the resurrection will follow at 11:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Holy Angel Mousoleum, Hwy. #1 East at Navin Road. Pallbearers will be Michael Trunzo, Frank Manfredi, Angelo Manfredi, Saheel Zaman, Zack Zaman and Kris Rutherford. On Mario's behalf, the family wishes to recognize CancerCare Manitoba, and more specifically, Dr. Sutherland, Dr. Johnson, Dr. Maksymiuk and assistant Shelli from Health Sciences Centre, and Dr. Daenink and his assistant Tracey, from St. Boniface Hospital, for their professional and compassionate care. Memorial donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or the Canadian Hemophilia Society, 944 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3G 0R1.
