GILBERTO PARISE 1933 - 2013 With sadness in our hearts, we announce the passing of Gilberto Parise on Thursday, June 6, 2013. Left to cherish Gilberto's memory is his son Roberto (Barb), daughter Loredana (Paolo), grandson Nico, sister Franca and nephew Massimo in Italy, as well as many relatives and friends in Canada. Gilberto was predeceased by his parents Giovanna and Ottavio in Italy, as well as his loving wife Catharina (2006). Dad was never the same after mom's death and now we are sure they are dancing in heaven together. Dad was born in Marostica, Vicenza, Italy in 1933. In Italy, he worked in the local bakery with his father while pursuing a boxing career. In 1957, dad arrived in Canada and worked as a Coffee Bean Roaster at Blue Ribbon, an O.R. Orderly at HSC, a Swimming Instructor/Pool Director, a Security Officer at North Star Inn and finally, he joined Protective Services with Atomic Energy of Canada. Dad was an eccentric, creative, respectful man who never went anywhere without a full suit and tie on, and holding his pipe. He had a love for the arts and appreciated all forms. He cried to Pavarotti songs, loved to sing (especially while cooking) and danced with our mom to any Latin American rhythm. Dad also had a love for the outdoors and we enjoyed many nature walks, fishing and hunting trips with him. In his later life he took up painting wildlife pictures and his nature scenes will live on in our homes forever. He was a culinary master and we will always remember his soups, sauces and of course, pancakes. Dad always wanted to invite the neighborhood into our home to try his latest creation. On Wednesday, June 12, 2013, a private funeral service was held at the Queen of Heaven Mausoleum (3990 Portage Ave.) and Gilberto was laid to rest with Catharina. Thank you to all who took care of our dad both in and out of hospital. We love you Dad. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715
