STAR CAROLINE NORDINE May 31, 1951 June 16, 2013 It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of our beloved wife, daughter, mother, sister and auntie. Left to mourn her passing; long time love of her life Charles Gilchrist of Winnipeg, daughters Pamela (Harley) of Vernon, BC, Angela (Chris) of Grand Forks, ND, mother Beatrice Nordine, brothers Edward (Susan), Len, Wayne (Janet), and sister Heather, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Star loved living her life in the country, close to her friends and family. Star's passions were gardening, summer BBQ's, travelling, camping with Charles at Grand Beach and board games with the family, but none could compare to her passion for her girls, Pam and Ang. On Star's list of passions was her dedication to her career, which included Gaspard where she was well known, liked and respected. Star cultivated many relationships with various co-workers along her career working at Gaspard and Sons, and Tupperware. Private family viewing will be held at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue. Celebration of life on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Ness and Sturgeon. The family wishes to thank the dedicated, caring staff at the Asper Cardiac Centre and the 6th floor of St. Boniface General Hospital for all their hard work. Condolences & Memories (18 entries)

  • To my aunty Star...although over the years you and I were not as close as we could have been doesn't make your passing any easier on me or my family. Besides named after the one thing that can light up the nights sky your smile and laugh could have lit up even the darkest of rooms! I will miss you greatly as will my family! Love you dearly Your Nephew, Kurt - Posted by: Kurtis Nordine (Nephew) on: Jun 27, 2013

  • Though I knew Star for a short time, she will always be in my heart and be greatly missed. - Posted by: Barb Gillingham (former co-worker) on: Jun 22, 2013

  • I'm so sorry to hear of Star's passing. Star was my very dear childhood friend. We went through years of Primary together in the same class. Her name was wonderful, and so was she. We'd re-connected on Facebook but I had no idea her health was a challenge. I have some lovely memories of Star to remember her by. My sincere condolences to her family, and my mother, Lorraine Pruden, wishes me to add her condolences also to the family. - Posted by: Karen Pruden Shirley (childhood friend) on: Jun 22, 2013

  • Star and I had never met in person. We met over the phone, I worked for Tupperware distribution in Calgary, she in Winnipeg, my home town. We automatically became friends. We had many good laughs, and she talked so lovingly of her daughters. After the distribution centre closed, we continued to keep in touch through Facebook. Words can not express my true sympathy for such a wonderful, caring, loving person. I am lucky to have known her. - Posted by: Sheila murphy (Friend) on: Jun 22, 2013

  • Star was a breath to so many of us at the Tupperware office. No matter how busy it got on a Monday morning or evening we could always count on Star to be efficient. She would always have a smile and you could hear her cheerful laugh. Star was amazing at taking the stress off the excitable managers and helping us realize everything was going to be Ok. Star loved being a mother and she loved her girls! Star was loved by many and will be missed by all that knew her. - Posted by: Heather Hacault (Worked together at Tupperware) on: Jun 21, 2013

  • To my friend Star It's been over 20 years since we met through our husbands. I remember the day when I said "you know where the coffee pot is, that's the day I knew that you were My friend too. So many memories, getting lost on the way to the outhouse in the Grand Beach years, you producing an extra t shirt out of your purse in the airport when I spilled coffee all over myself - who carries an extra T shirt in their purse! You wanting to stay in the middle of a highway gun fight in Mexico because you didn't want to miss the adventure, always ready for an adventure. You were always so full of life, so caring and giving. Chuck always called you the 'nice one' of the group, and he was so right. Even you your final battle you were mostly concerned that we kept Chuck away from a steady diet of MacDonalds and take out pizza. It will be hard to carry on without you my friend, I really miss you. We promise to keep Chuck fed and will check in on your flowers from time to time. Godspeed Star you are and will remain in my heart. - Posted by: Rhonda Warren (friend) on: Jun 20, 2013
