LORRAINE FRANCES CURLEY 1941 - 2013 Peacefully on Sunday, June 16 Lorraine Frances Curley passed away at the age of 71 years. Lorraine was predeceased by her husband Marshall Curley, her mother Jessie, her father Jack, her brothers Steven and John, and her nephew Kelsey. She leaves to mourn her loss, her sister Ann Skakum (Jack), sisters-in-law Cassie and Joan, nieces Kendra (Kevin), Tammy, Charlene (Guy) and Larissa (Dave), nephew John, many great-nieces and nephews as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Lorraine had a lot of challenges in her life and worked through them one by one with great determination and the help of her family. She was a strong willed person and always tried to live her best life. She did so until the day she left us. She always kept strong ties to her family and she will be deeply missed. Born in Gimli in 1941, she moved to the city with her family in the 1950s. She and her husband Marshall married in 1978 and they lived together for 20 years in a comfortable home that she was very proud of. After Marshall's death Lorraine kept busy doing volunteer work for various charities. She loved animals and always had at least one cat, whose name was invariably "Killer". For the past five years she lived at the Middlechurch Home. She enjoyed many of the people and activities there. She especially enjoyed Bingo and won often. The family appreciates all the staff of South 2 for all their care and concern for Lorraine. Of her many volunteer jobs, she most enjoyed working at Winnipeg Harvest. She had plans to go there next week with her friend Marlene Friesen to visit. Lorraine thoroughly enjoyed her time spent with Marlene on their many adventures. A celebration of Lorraine's life will be held Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. Interment and reception will follow. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to Winnipeg Harvest or a charity of your choice. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111

  • I am so sorry to learn of Lorraine's death. I work with Jack and learned from him how determined she was to live her life to the fullest and her family was always there to support her. She certainly sounds like someone we all would have liked to have known and learn from. I am so sorry to learn of her passing. - Posted by: Val Surbey (Friend of Jack and Ann) on: Jun 21, 2013
