Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMURIEL KATHLEEN FARSTAD November 1, 1924 - June 19, 2013 Peacefully on June 19, with her girls at her side, Muriel passed away at Misericordia Place. She is now reunited with her beloved Karl. Muriel is predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Karl, her sister Ileen, and her brother George (Geordie). She is survived by her three daughters: Corinne Savoie, Brenda Hillman (Donald), and Karla Farstad; her grandchildren, Cindy, Aynsley and Thurston; and her great-grandson, Nicholas. She is also survived by her two sisters Marion Mitchell (Burt) and Doreen Waddell (Jack), brother-in-law, Gordon Kendall, and sister-in-law Margaret Dracass (Muggs). Mom was a gentle, kind, caring, and compassionate woman whose family and friends were of the utmost importance to her. Mom's life revolved around her family. She always had a kind word to say about everyone; there wasn't a person she didn't get along with. She was a true lady, loved by everyone who knew her. Muriel was an active member for many years of the Windsor Park United Church. She was actively involved in the church's UCW. Muriel was also a member of the Olive Branch Historic Rebekah Lodge #1. She first joined the Lodge in 1963. Muriel was very active within the lodge, assuming various duties, including Past Noble Grand. Muriel could always be counted on to help with lodge teas, rummage sales and bake sales. Muriel always made herself available to assist anyone in need. She was a true Rebekah. Mom enjoyed sitting in her rocking chair with a glass of wine. Summer months were spent outside, listening to the sounds of the birds and enjoying the sunshine. She enjoyed being surrounded by her family and friends, and her door was always open and awaiting company. She was well-known for her baking, and it was always a competition to see who could get to the baking first. The family would like to thank the staff of Misericordia Place (MP2) for their loving care of mom over the years. Mom always said They take such good care of me . Mom will be lovingly remembered by her family, and will be forever cherished both in our hearts and our fondest of memories. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website.
