NORMAND GEORGE EMILE PARADIS
Date of Passing: Jun 22, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNORMAND GEORGE EMILE PARADIS Normand Paradis passed away at Tuxedo Villa Care Home on June 22, 2013 at the age of 84 years. He is survived by his beloved wife Irene, after 60 years of marriage. He is also survived by his three children, David (Kim), Brian (Gina), and Sandra (Timothy) Anderson and his three grandchildren, Ryan (Kazia), Kaitlyn (Brett) Blanco and Dylan. He was predeceased by his parents Felix and Rose Paradis, his older brother Alphonse, his sister Lucille Lafreniere, his brothers Leonard and Jean. He is survived by his sisters Celine Pauwels and Jeanine Landry, his brothers Rene, Gabriel and Lionel. Having grown up in a large, happy family of ten siblings, he remained family oriented all his life, and was thrilled by the arrival of his own children and grandchildren. He loved and was proud of them all. After graduating from high school, he taught grades one to eight in a one-room country school. However most of his working life was spent in the hardware-retail business. He loved to deal with the public and people in general. He was a man of integrity and honesty and he treated people from every background and ethnic extraction with respect and dignity. Everyone he spoke to, whether for the first time, or anytime thereafter, received a warm smile, genuine interest, and a gentle friendliness that became his reputation. After dealing with the ravages of poor health, and, in recent months with the frustration of memory loss, the struggle is now over. He is sleeping peacefully in death and we know that his future life is in God's hands. We the family will cherish many happy memories of what was a good life. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Friday, July 5, at 7:00 p.m. at Wojcik's Funeral Home at 1020 Main Street in Winnipeg.

Their uncle Normand's family. Just a little note to let you know even if we are late and fare from you, we will always remember all the great souvenirs we had from our visit to you in Winnipeg and all the fun and love we always have from our family. Hope to find you all great. From Quebec, your cousin Martine (and mom Monique and sister Lorraine) - Posted by: Martine Paradis (Niece) on: Dec 02, 2013

The fondest memories of my youth, are of those weekend visits with the Paradis clan. The closeness in age between the Vouk and Paridis kids, almost guaranteed a great connection, but there was that fantastic sense of fun and adventure...from assisting in building the house in charleswood, to the years of conquering the bush in behind (till the development caught up). And the feasting.... I remember times there must have been 40 or 50 of us.... the best of times. And my uncle Norm always patient and kind with all of us. Again I say, "the best of times"... Enjoy your peace Uncle Norm, and condolences to those who remain, you will be missed. - Posted by: Peter Vouk (Nephew) on: Jul 07, 2013

Uncle Normand was always very interesting to talk to. He was always smiling and happy. When my dad was in the hospital he always looked forward to his big brother's visits. He always enjoyed his time with him. Aunt Irene, David, Brian and Sandra.... my thoughts are with you. Lynne Paradis - Posted by: Lynne Paradis (Nièce) on: Jul 02, 2013

I remember Norm very well. I was about 19 when I first met him, I had just started working at Winnipeg Supply. He never treated me as a "kid". He was kind, funny and the best cribbage partner in the store. I enjoyed when we had our breaks together, we would clean up during the "lightning rounds" of cribbage. (we could play 2 games in 15 minutes) He was always willing to talk, play or just listen. Even though I haven't worked seen Norm in over 15 years, I still think of him as one of the best things about Winnipeg Supply. Rest in peace my friend. - Posted by: Lianne Welburn (Worked with Norm at Winnipeg Supply for 10 years) on: Jun 29, 2013
