Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMATO SIKORA Mato Sikora, age 81, passed away on June 22, 2013 at Parkview Place Personal Care Home. He was born on September 9, 1931 in Stari Mikanovci, Croatia. He was predeceased by his father, Franjo, his mother Kate, and by his sisters Katica and Rozica, in Croatia. He is survived by his three daughters and their families in Winnipeg and by his brother Josip, sister Marija and their families in Croatia. Mato came to Canada in 1959. He brought a strong work ethic with him and initially worked in a gold mine in Red Lake. Ontario. When he moved to Winnipeg, he worked at Manitoba Bridge and then eventually at the parent company, Dominion Bridge, until he retired. In his spare time, Mato enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and taking long drives in the country. He had a good sense of humour and he enjoyed teasing and making others laugh. Mato will be fondly remembered by many friends and family in Winnipeg and Croatia. Thank you to those who helped and supported him in his final years. Prayers will take place on Friday, June 28, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Tavelich Croatian Church, 2688 Main St., Reverend Robert Polz officiating.
